Hi all The narrow boat has gone that i got as it was to much for me to health wise. not doing to well. so with all thta steel work i passed it on. Now i havnt viewed this yet but will be in a few weeks. A mates friend is selling it on due to bad health ( cancer, she is not well ) and he asked if i would be interested. i certainly would be as i love these dutch boats. built well i believe and handle well in the coastal rough stuff. This is a pic of the boat but not the actual one. I believe it is in good order with two rebuilt and ready to go back in Perkin 4108s. Its a refit project, and thats as far as i know but for Β£5k ? I cant find any info really on them but for size and how there were fitted out. Anybody on here know much. are they well built, good to cruise, coastal worth around the U K etc ? Captain Faffer

I think bargemaster gave us the low down on de-groot boats one time in the interesting boats for sale thread. So maybe search that thread. But unfortunately he doesnβt post anymore.

Hi Faffer, during my time on the Broads the name De Groot was often followed by a sigh of lust. 5K seems pretty reasonable to me Phil

That style of boat looks a real head turner-a smashing looking boat.It really depends on how much hard work needs doing combined with keeping you well.π

That seems a very good price. They have got a pretty good reputation. a friend of mine lived on one in the early 90s. He said it was a good boat but that it was not insulated so a lot of internal work needed to get insulation sorted for residential use. Not so important if not lived on. I'm not sure if De Groot was the builder or the naval architect involved. I've got an idea that it was the latter. Might be worth doing some Google searches with ybw forums in the search. www.boatinternational.com/profiles/guido-de-groot--21875So he was a superyacht designer. If that is the same person. I wonder if that means anyone who wanted to could get the plans and build the boats? A kit boat? Interesting. Does seem rather good for Β£5k. That's quite a lot of boat.

Hi all Anybody on here know much. are they well built, good to cruise, coastal worth around the U K etc ? Captain Faffer Hi Captain Faffer !!! Nice to see you on the site again !!!
I have always been a fan of De Groot's ...... they are not usually heavily built by UK Inland Waterways ideas but are a beautifully shaped hull and very good bumpy water boats.
Presently I have lustful eyes on another of a very similar design, I am unsure if it is a genuine De Groot or a copy. It's smaller than the one you are talking about and was apparently fitted out in Ireland ..... and superbly done. Twin Mermaids in one of the best designed and installed engine rooms I have come across.
The one I am hoping to get (subject to successful steelwork, sympathetically done) was left attached to shore line without a working galvanic isolator or transformer for about 5 or 6 years (in salt water as well) (death of youngish owner after long illness and then resulting years of wrangling as no will)
When it was finally lifted out of the water and the weed washed off, they found that was all that had been keeping it afloat ....... galloping galvanic corrosion round the waterline literally golf ball shaped holes appeared in places along the waterline.
I could have bought it then for silly money (just the breaking value) but it was too much a gamble for me, as I wasn't sure it would be possible to do the work and keep it looking right, without removing a lot of the interior (which because it was so well done was half the value of the boat)
It went for peppercorn money but then had to be removed immediately from the marina. It now sits on a pontoon where it is being worked on. I was so impressed by the standard of the repair work that I have put a provisional bid on it (subject to it being completed to the same high standard and a sensible price being negotiated)

HI patty. hope your well Well had to get an emergency appointment this morning at the docs as my B12 is very low, wondered why i was keep going wobbly and heart going ten to the dozen like a freight train and head mashed lol. This would be a life time project now. An amazing boat i have always loved. That seems a very good price. They have got a pretty good reputation. a friend of mine lived on one in the early 90s. Hi kida ows you didlin As its goes we are now not planning on living on a boat at T is not 100% behind it for a few reason, i am fine with it. But i would fully insulate it while at it. I have the De Groot Paloma is a close call to it, but a few feet longer. Its a mate mate that is selling it, so could be part of a good deal, who knows untiil i see it. even a shell its a good price i think with two good engines and gear. Cant wait to visit it Hi all Anybody on here know much. are they well built, good to cruise, coastal worth around the U K etc ? Captain Faffer Hi Captain Faffer !!! If i wasnt so bloody busy i would prob be around more John. Business is booming That much i am going part time soon as its killing me this 6-7 day a week for last so many months. Well it sound slike it was or could of been worth the weight for it to come your way kida. I hoep to god the hull is good on this one i am looking at. I dont a few small plates welding in if needed but not a lot. Reason i got rid of the NB as i cant be doing that now. OMG i cant lift a sheet of 18mm ply now without pain lol. never mind move a sheet of 4mm steel anymore lol. I think i said above but there are De Groot Palma which are similar but 40 foot. I am to thoinkign this is one of the kits that were sold. Will be checking it out fully if so. just dont want a wonky boat even if it doe seem cheap.
