"I will be going to my sisters for as long as I wish over the holiday period. I think I will be in a zone 3 and she will be in a zone 2 but in practice that is also irrelevant" Good luck at Checkpoint Charlie! I really am total twat
Of all people, you have been the one lecturing to us to 'Stay At Home'. And then you are planning to break The Rules yourself and drive in and out of a Tier 4 zone. How many people will die as a result of your carelessly spreading The Virus?

prob'ly not ................... wot/who the fuck are you referring to? Twat !!
Sadly he’s being a disingenuous bellend - @loddon has never broken any rules, laws or guidance while visiting his boat; especially so when you consider that restrictions were far less draconian in September than they are now - seeing as we are currently in tier 2 he will be able to maintain that position if he chooses to travel from Devonshire to Northamptonshire. I guess the fukwit from Finland is trying to have a go but I have him on ignore so he can rant as much as he likes and I wont see it if no one quotes it. Oh Exeter are 3 points down against Leicester after 1 minute. Tier 2 to tier 2 is allowed and I travelled up yesterday non stop, my bladder was painful when I arrived after 4.5hrs. Right I am going back to the rugby, Exeter are brutal but thats ok its against Leicester ETA Two reasons for the journey one to winterise the boat which is allowed two to collect MIL who is vulneable and has been on her own for the last months. Exeter try and conversion .

I suspect the number of fines issued since March 2020 would offer evidence of generally how compliant the public has been, considering a population of around 68 million. Certainly what I see around me suggests that the vast majority are complying with all restrictions, whether they agree with them or not. Rog That is possibly true, however. My local constabulary and I'm sure they are not alone have used fines as a last resort, the majority of times they educated rule breakers. So to gain anything from the amount of fines issued we would need to add in the amount of times people were spoken to and warned, officially and unofficially.

I will be self isolating for 10 days before travelling, I will be in a bubble of two while I am there, and we will be isolating anyway over the holliday.
So as I said .... irrelevant ..... just like 99% of your posts.
that sounds a really sensible idea ...enjoy..i'm still in negotiation over my plans....

A tenth of that number ? One percent of that number ? My guess would be an insignificant number as the vast majority are generally complying with restrictions, even though many believe them to be ridiculous ... the government estimate is 80% plus compliance. Foxy just loves trash talk and stirring. Rog

What they, and I are doing is using common sense. Maybe the people I mix with are all rebels, more likely that most people are also not complying. I also think many on here have broken laws of restrictions at times.

I suspect there is a large majority who are not obeying the letter of the restrictions but who are taking a balanced view of the situation, avoiding risks but still complying with the aims of them and keeping possible infection/spread minimised. The problem is (as it always is) with the braindead/selfish or bloody minded who just don't give a shit about anyone else or are too thick to understand the risk.

What restrictions are you not complying with ?
Pubs, cafes, restaurants are all closed here ... shops have reopened but everyone appears to be keeping distance and wearing masks.
There's nowhere open to 'publicly gather' ... don't know about other's homes but as a family, we're not visiting each other, and there's no obvious signs of neighbours entertaining visitors.

I agree with using common sense, but I would say "using common sense to interpret the restrictions".
Like many things in life, the restrictions are there to set standards that should be met by those who don't possess enuff common sense and discretion to act wisely. A bit like the 70 limit on motorways - what you should really be doing is driving at a speed to suit road conditions which may be less in fog and heavy rain, or more in light traffic and good visibility.

Rog Well I’m not completely sure what rules we currently have, so I’m not sure which ones I’m breaking. I have visited our daughters several times and sat in her garden. Neighbours have sat in our garden as well. Been to boat a few times. Driven car and motorbikes, and get this, I drove them for pleasure, not for an essential journey. I’m sure there are others I’ve broken. As the rules and guidance, in parts, are complete twaddle I expect you have also fallen foul at times.

The virus is spread by droplet infection person to person as we all know. Restrictions are intended to reduce the spread, rightly or wrongly. Driving a vehicle for pleasure purposes and visiting your boat is not likely to encourage the spread unless picking up hitch hikers or doing public trips I hope that in 2021 the vulnerable can quickly be vaccinated so that the rest of us can get on with life at our own risk. The way I live my life now is sort of what Ive done for years..Ive not joined clubs or gone to the pubs very often so its not really been difficult. I admit travel has gone....also visiting friends n family but they are so widely scattered I just do not want to go. OK so I wear a mask..thats different. The only ones who come in my house are 2 grandchildren and daughter....same as always.
The only other thing I don't now do, that I did is visit coffee shops..I do miss carrot cake n cappuccino post Worms Head Trek, though in reality cannot go over there as unsuitable terrain for Freya. It is not a safe walk for large boned dogs.

We enjoy walking and like to call for coffee and cake as we do so ... not the same (especially at this time of year) juggling takeaways. I just find it illogical that I can go to work mixing with a large shop full of total strangers (albeit wearing masks) but cannot sit indoors for coffee and cake or a beer. But it is what it is ... won't be for ever Rog
