Well at least it's not pikeys. I like pikeys it you can get a good one but if you get a bad one then there is potential for real problems. A guy about my age has "settled" on our estate, lived here for years. Still has a horse and trap, Geoffrey, a piebald work horse like the gypsies prefer. Grazes it on the green spaces and football field now and again. Goes up to Appleby etc. One comes round collecting scrap, small and wiry, ugly as sin, no teeth, but a grand chap all the same, plenty of banter. On the other hand, at home and down at Skylight Circus, I've had them just happen to appear in the garden or yard "looking for their dog" or other pretext, eyes like the shit house rat, all over the place, weighing up what's around. Chancers! Have to be careful talking about gypos, any suggestion that they are less honest than the general population is considered to be racism by some.

Following Abdul's 3 texts 'I'm buying on cash' that proved not to be true following an initial firm promise that 'I will complete by the end of September', and a text on Thursday 'I promise to give you a firm completion date tomorrow' followed by total silence, I conclude that Abdul was never in the financial position to make the claims he did. For some reason he chose to run this charade, I'm not quite sure why. Perhaps he had stars in his eyes, the idea of owning the 2 houses next door was really appealing. The strange thing about this is that this will have cost him some money. Not as much as the £4,100 it has cost me for sure but still, a few hundred quid is a few hundred quid, not to be sniffed at. This is far from my first experience of dishonest Asians. Maybe some of our resident commies will be along shortly to say that I'm a racist or a bigot. Fair enough, but my perception is based on experience, experience is more or less the opposite of the ignorance that apparently goes hand in hand with the racism and bigotry. I'm confused as to how an offer on a property has cost you £4,100. Perhaps you could explain.

So it is a factor sometimes? Example? Bosnia Rog Good answer. But the Serbs were, as they saw it, getting revenge for events in WW2 supported by the Nazis. I have no doubt the Bosnians would say they were reacting to an even earlier event. And so it goes.

Abdul assured me he could complete the purchases before I complete in Wales. Cost of my legals £300.

If we could all peek into the future we wouldn't half be an indecisive bunch..not doing anything unless it looked as if it'd pan out for the best. We make decisions..good or bad and there is always a price to pay. I wouldn't have brought Horror House but I did, lost thousands on renovation but thats now in the past. Ricco wanted to get rid of those places and took a chance...it ain't worked out but thats now in the past. Only he can decide what next?....I hope he gets rid of those houses and gets the house he wants in Wales, if thats what he decides is right for him.

What was that one about not counting chickens? He's going to avoid that £3.6k tax even if it costs him £10k to do it and it's all Abdul's fault because his origins are non-white-Brit. Bloody foreigners stealing our house buying tactics!

I'm sure thy'll sell in the end - property is in demand after all. Its the way he blames Abdul for his problems (like Abdul has cost him £4000). No he hasn't - Ricco took a gamble and lost - simple. Selling junk property is never going to be easy. It might have been better if he had fixed the clearly mad issues that preclude the possibility of a bank lending on them but hey-ho, he'll just have to find another cash buyer. Shame because I bet the asking price would be considerably higher by now.
Will Ricco find a way to get over his prejudices? Don't hold your breath.

I was going to put them into an auction with a low reserve. This would have guaranteed completion by 30 September. Another option was to accept a similar offer from a cash buyer. He however wanted to give the tenants notice straight away in order that he could redecorate etc. and make a turn on them. My tenants have been with my for 4 and 7 years. It's not my responsibility to make sure people don't become homeless but still, these are their homes, I felt it was best if I could work something out that enabled them to keep their homes. So, a combination of my stupidity? in even thinking about the tenants (buy to let landlords, everything starts and ends with money, right?) I decided to go against my better judgment formed from living in Asia and being deceived/ ripped off by Asians previously both with house rental and car purchases. I was mistaken. I won't be mistaken again.
You can sit there in your ivory towers having read lots of books that brainwash you into believing that cultural differences start and end with food, clothing, dance and music. There's no harm in this, the majority come no closer to gaining an understanding of cultural difference than having a curry in the local Pakistani/ Bangladeshi (they believe it's Indian, mistakenly) restaurant. And they don't need to. But if you're going to get closer to people, business dealings etc., the good book that says we're one homogenous group of humanity, all drawn to the same things, all having the same values etc. is sadly mistaken.
You can call me prejudiced if you like, I don't give a shit. I've experienced things, I suspect you haven't. Mine is a view based on experience, yours is based on ignorance.

yours is based on ignorance. Are you sure? It's a fair assumption. You're saying it's wrong to highlight differences between different groups of people. So either, you haven't experienced this, believe it not to be the case or: Have experienced it, but think it's best for the speech that results from people's experiences should be stifled, in order that we can all live in a pretence, where everybody is the same.
