I assume it does cover second hand sales. My mate is smart, no way would he refund someone if he wasn't legally obliged to do so. I don't know any more details, what the exact legislation is etc. but I'll find out next time I speak to him.

If you want your money back from me, you need to do a bit better than 'it's illegal to not give me a full refund' or quote a vague 'consumer protection laws innit' phrase. If you need more its on the web somewhere I expect. My brother the car dealer has recently sold a car for me, but I know better than to ask for the money until at least a month has gone by. That is for totally different reasons rather than 'I've changed my mind' IF the car is sold via a business.

Do tell. It's about 'implied warranty' - buying from a business or private buyer. Essentially means anything serious goes wrong in the first month after the sale a business would likely be liable - private seller not.

I don't expect Jimbo to rush along and answer this. Sorry I have a life. I forget I must pander to your every whim right away, sooorrrryyyy. It's clear that a bunch of local lads near your mate have cottoned on to a scam. They happen to be of asian descent. Maybe your mate should raise the issue with his MP, get the law changed.

Just think.
It could have been the Jews.
Then we'd really be in an awful pickle.

But the law is weighted almost entirely on the side of the buyer. The rules can be and are abused to the point that it is simpler (and safer) to buy the car back.

Cars are actually just a scam anyway.
Why oh why did humans have to go and invent the wheel?
It just leads to problems.

The law was bought in to protect the buyer from Dell Boy characters, legitimate business sellers and all private sellers are not unreasonably punished by the law except in unfortunate cases.
Going to leave it there though.

As I thought, you don't have any answers other than sticking to your fanatical belief that all humans, regardless of gender, race or anything else, are all motivated in exactly the same way.

I'm about to go and collect my girls from their primary school which is 99% Bengali. I think it's important to know the type of place that people come from. Not everyone has a long and illustrious UK comfortable life background. Some of these third world countries are real shithouses and you can't really blame people for doing the take take take thing. It's natural in adversity for survival. I still dislike the rudeness and the littering but worse things happen at sea And middle class Londoners are a heck of a lot worse !! A bit odd for the girls to be the only whites there but I say two things to them "don't forget your mum is a bit woggy and also don't forget these ones breed faster so get to know them as this is the future". Facts are always good for kids.

Don't you know? Car sellers and horse traders are all presumed guilty. The bit about 'sold fit for purpose' is a very grey area. Perhaps you have heard of the case where a guy bought a car, found a minor fault which was confirmed by a main dealer who recommended that rectification would be best achieved by fitting a new gearbox (10 year old car). This was done and the bill handed to the used dealer. It went to court - the used dealer lost.
