This is exciting! It's better than awaiting the birth of a Royal baby, methinks! I haven't followed the whole story - will you be cruising the canals? I don't even know if you have boating experience... The plan Foxy, is to live on her for a while ONCE she's finsihed (if ever that happens) and rent the house ... once we've a couple of years mortgage in the bank again,we'll chuck in our jobs and have a year off exploring... before trying to run her as a hotel boat... or rather a "come and play boats with us" boat - NOT to make a fortune, just to cover our living costs and finance a different kind of life on the water... The amount of time "off" will depend on how the savings do lol AS for boating experience, we've been hiring on and off for years... more often OUT of season getting frozen in lol... it'll make a nice change to have a boat when the sun is shining!

So you'll be around for many years yet! It's a real pity that some people have too much money to squander on nonsense, yet others have to struggle in good, honest projects. Remind me if I ever mention we've won the Lotto! I'd be quite happy to give some of my winnings to worthy things.

Thanks for that - cheers... My heart is now TOTALLY in my mouth watching that... like I wasn't stressed enough already lol We tried to get a mooring at fairies hill from Chris back in December... just missing out. Were you ok on Boxing day above the old lock? - apparently it got a bit hairy in the branch below. It's always better to be prepared We aren't at Fairies Hill, we are at King's Road lock. We had a look at Fairies Hill but we didn't like the spaces they had and apparently their lock is a right pig. We go out often and didn't fancy doing their lock and then woodnook every time we wanted to go anywhere. We didn't have the boat then, we only got it in April this year so missed all the fun.!

It'll all be fine......ours was craned in new and then craned out twice due to warranty issues (blacking directly onto millscale...it all came off). Nerves are only natural, and unfortunately anything boaty doesn't ever seem to happen on time. Hope it's all you want it to be, we've never looked back. 🙂

We tried to get a mooring at fairies hill from Chris back in December... Tried to get a mooring at Fairies Hill? You're making this up, right? lol nope - there REALLY is a place called "Fairies Hill Mooring" on the Aire and Calder near Castleford... it's under an old lock/branch off the river. We both, (given our nancy boy status) thought it'd be amusing to have that as a home mooring... IT DOES however flood when the river has a paddy so in hindsight, it was a lucky escape when I found the (closer to home) one at Stanley.

Yesterday I confirmed with the Haulier the transport IS booked to collect the boat early doors and have her at the mooring around 1 pm . I also confirmed with the marina operator and he's sorting out the crane for that day (just need to drop him in some money). The builder ALSO agreed in principle to having the boat as ready as she can be but warned I many have to finish a few things... which is fine.
I also insured it with GJW and then applied for the index number and licence from CRT - bit of a sod doing putting it on the water on 27th as I didn't know we'd effectively "lose" a whole months license like cars... robbing Barstewards. Anyway.... it's all done and paid for now.
MEANWHILE, tonight job is splicing my lovely red rope on to anchor chain - courtesy of some instructions I was given the other day in my anchor thread.
.... and to work I go!
