Since getting Freya almost everyone stops to say hello Before then Id say good morning to most people but often ignored..I put it down this year to Coronageddon fear of infections. However a lanky, clumsy puppy that seems to want to be everyones friend has melted so many peoples normal reserve. Well its said dog-walking is a good way to make new friends. Although yesterday at a petrol station I started coughing and sneezing a lot, and a surprisingly large amount of people turned and stared. So maybe that's the key to getting a response.

So what would it be then? Diweekly? Bi-monthly and bi-weekly mean the same, every two weeks. They also mean other things as well.

I wave at no one unless I know them. If you wave at me you might get a nod or a raised finger in salute. I normally time any response so that the other person has already looked the other way

Being the devil's advocate... If one wanted to spend some solitary time out in the fresh air completely free from human interaction, those innanely grinning clowns coming the other way be it on your boat or walking over the moors DEMANDING interaction are the fly in the ointment. They must be nodded at to confirm that you are not really an axe weilding maniac, just someone having some ommm time, a bit sad that their chug induced state of hypnotic trance has been broken.

Or, maybe they are in the middle of a complex mental calculation of some sort.

I think its the monkeys in a cage scenario. Too many and they fight...if you only saw one boat a day I expect most would be happy to say hello. According to CaRT the number of boats on the system has doubled in the last decade.

I've always been into waving at other boaters who, one must assume, are boating in order to have a generally good time. I don't fully understand why people would be boating in order to not have a good time because boating is so enjoyable. However over the years things have changed. this could be to do with the increase in people occupying boats and viewing the moving of the boat as a seriously irritating bi-weekly chore. A lot of younger boat owners seem to just do a little nod where waving was more common in days gone by. That's my observation anyway. bi-monthly I've not seen that particular publication. Is it a decent read?

Even miles from anywhere on the moors you can sure of meeting at least a few people who generally range from nod to "morning" and may or may not smile. To be clear I'm easy, I'm ready to be sociable...or not. I appreciate that not everyone is and it doesn't neccessarily make them a miserable git.

Its about the frequency at which the requirement for acknowledgement occurs. It is impossible to wait at a bus stop in Sheffield without getting into a conversation, whereas eye contact is studiously avoided on the tube.

Also, one very busy morning on the underground, a young woman was struggling with a massive suitcase on an escalator which was not working. Her progress was painfully slow. Many behind her were grumbling. But nobody offered to help, being much more comfortable in their grumbling.

Oh yes. Bloody hell I must stop leaking CRT secrets like that kris will accuse me of working for them, again, if I do tell people in advance of the press release that the 14 day rule is going to be shortened to 7 days under the t&c. Not sure when the press release is yet ! Your even sadder than if you worked for them. You regurgitate their propaganda for free. They don’t even have to pay you.

I assume you only get into conversation when someone else is at the bus stop too ... I'm not judging ... just a very different discussion subject if not Rog
