But the median age of those who have died of Covid is 82, and the age and risk profile of Covid mortality is comparable to normal mortality. So this vulnerable group should self-isolate while the rest of us carry on as normal, working, paying the taxes which run the NHS and being allowed to socialise as we see fit. Denying it exists is the realm of fantasists, nutters and lunatics, small wonder Foxy posts the shit he does! Oh, it exists, but is no more lethal than the flu pandemics of 1957 and 1968 (during the two waves of which the Woodstock Festival took place). The bizarre over-reaction to Covid-19 is something completely different though and more related to establishing a new world order than dealing with a very average coronavirus in a totally proportionate and realistic way.

My son got Covid..he's recovered but the cases are rising in Swansea.. Gazza is best qualified to comment on this as his wife works at KGH... My son and daughter in law are both Drs one in London t'other in Brum. They report rising case numbers. Those who have never believed in it sadly won't until either they get it or someone close to them does.

Honestly Vince, you may think it average but for those suffering and those treating it it’s far from average - imagine gasping and struggling for every breath as of it’s your last. No one has the real answer as to how to deal with it - doing nothing? Nope, that don’t work despite what the Swedes may tell you. Total lockdown? Australia and New Zealand tried that but couldn’t stay virus free. Trumps approach in the US? Ummm; that will be a big fat no. The truth is no one knows how to deal with it - the best we can do is ride it out while reducing the chance of catching it ourselves, I look at social distancing, masks and limits on civil liberties as a means to stop me getting it not a means to stop me spreading it. when will it all end? Who knows but the best we can hope is it is sometime soon

Anyone care to explain this? Feature Covid-19: How does Belarus have one of the lowest death rates in Europe? BMJ 2020; 370 doi: doi.org/10.1136/bmj.m3543 (Published 15 September 2020) Plagued by political turmoil over “Europe’s last dictatorship” and with a president in denial of covid-19, how has Belarus ended up with one of the lowest death rates on the continent? Kata Karáth reports Belarus’s beleaguered government remains unfazed by covid-19. President Aleksander Lukashenko, who has been in power since 1994, has flatly denied the seriousness of the pandemic, refusing to impose a lockdown, close schools, or cancel mass events like the Belarusian football league or the Victory Day parade. Yet the country’s death rate is among the lowest in Europe—just over 700 in a population of 9.5 million with over 73 000 confirmed cases. www.bmj.com/content/370/bmj.m3543

And also interesting is that another dictatorship reports no cases at all. We all know that statements issued by despotic regimes are more reliable.

Is the country full or are the people sparse and spread out?

I personally know of two lives lost that were covid19 related. My mum and a chap from my local snooker club. Mum was 87, close to going and was never going to last this year, virus or no virus. The snooker guy was in pretty poor shape, and at high risk that something would get him, only in his 50s though. Covid19 restrictions robbed me and mum of any last goodbyes, still don’t understand why that was necessary. Mum was going this year, she knew it and wanted it. Shit end to a good life though, passing away, alone. Previous few years I’ve attended 4 funerals. 3 of those were for people aged between 18 and 27. People die for many reasons, the one blessing of covid19 is that it tends to take the elderly. My take on it is that for some reason the world has gone massively OTT about it. Tens, probably hundreds of millions of lives will be ruined in the name of, what Is a relatively small amount of deaths. The powers that be are getting away with something here, but I don’t know what that something is. I do know they are dividing the UKs people. I strongly dislike being shouted down whenever I say there has been a massive overreaction to covid19 deaths. I think we need to get on with living. Let those that want to hide away until there’s a vaccine, let others live. Life’s full of risks. I’d wager that the vast majority of us lot here will die of something. That something probably won’t be covid19 though.
