faffer s post about his new acquisition and who built it reminded me of our first proper boat. Bought from Redditch on 10/9/2001 (a memorable day followed) it took me a year to do the refurb, the pics are from the first try out with a day permit on Hollingworth Lake, 1/2 a mile from home (hence the sailboards in the pic). I cannot remember exactly but Head Cruisers comes to mind, and this was a Head Light. First pic is how I found her in Redditch. After the lake trial, we set off to Garstang and the Lancaster Canal. As we approached the Rochdale Junction on the M62 an offside trailer wheel came past and veered left off the motorway. Limped home on 3 trailer wheels. Went back and found the missing wheel. The vendor told me he had put new bearings in the wheels, the numpty had put them in the wrong way round, outer ring cup shells of the tapered roller bearings on the outside, so nothing but friction holding it together. We did the Lanky a couple of times, also Peak Forest and the Macc, as well as the L&l ring. All refurbished by me, including the pram hood - Dab hand with a sewing machine, I make all my own frocks. I came across a folder of pics on an old hard drive, some had degraded and won't load.
