It's 5th November! Why has no-one mentioned fireworks? No displays anywhere? "Predictably many firework events have been cancelled this year in a bid to stop the spread of the virus." Oh. "All major fireworks displays are off in 2020, due to the coronavirus lockdown, but some people might still want to let off some rockets in their own back gardens. Here are some useful things to know. Can I invite family or friends to a fireworks party in my back garden? No. Under the second lockdown restrictions, you must not meet inside or in your garden with family or friends, unless they are part of your household - that is, the people you live with – or a support bubble. Anyone caught in breach of lockdown rules on household mixing, even in a garden, could face a fine starting at £200. If you are found to be the organiser of a gathering of more than 30 people - such as a firework display for family and friends - you could face a fine of £10,000."

Loads of fireworks in Thames valley Berk$hire last night and some tonight as well.
I guess probably private displays rather than pay per view.
It could be the topography bringing sounds in from Bucks and Oxon and maybe even further afield.

I think it's fair to say here in Greater Manchester last night was like Beirut - it went on for hours and hours... stopped and then began again in the early hours for some reason... I kept thinking a skud missile was going to blast through the boat roof.
I pity all those with dogs trying to keep them calm at home.

Our Tibby Batcat loves fireworks, this was a few years ago and last night he spent the entire night on the balcony watching all of them.

Our cat sat on his favourite chair and occasionally twitched an ear. We did lock his cat flap and we did think that someone was re-enacting the battle of the Somme for a while.

Our Jackhuahua just started growling and trotted around to find the source of the noise so he could BITE IT. Monty our westie cross just stress panted while our Yorkie, Abi blissfully slept. So not too bad an evening. Phil

Lots going off around us. Scaredy Cat Bessie Dog passed away a couple of years ago, fireworks put her in a state of panic, poor dog. We now see the ground rising outside the back gate...

I was trained in the 3 Ls rule at school. Light it, Lob it, Leg it.
Kept me safe during the teenage years. One did set fire quite badly to some dry bracken in Bushey park but that was where the final L was quite handy.
The benefits of a private education I guess. Bloody expensive though.
