I developed a cold over the weekend ... just my usual winter catarrh which I've experienced since I was a boy.
By last night I had developed a chesty cough ... again nothing more than I'd expect to have at some point every winter ... no temperature and no loss of taste or smell.
Jane has been 'suggesting' all weekend that I should arrange a covid test "just to be safe" ... then this morning my sister (nurse) told me I MUST get tested as Jane is still going to work.
She accepts I only have my usual catarrh but said in fairness to Jane's work colleagues, I should book in.
So about 9.30am I rang 119 and very quickly and easily arranged a drive through test at Mexborough (a couple of miles from home) between 12 and 12.30pm.
Seems pretty good service to me after reading all the horror stories relating to testing ... slightly embarrased to be adding extra work to busy people when I've only got catarrh ... but my 'advisers' insist I should get it done (and the NHS guy said I should too).
So ... I'll let you know about my negative result when it arrives.

The chances of being tested and it being Covid-19 (as opposed to the other Coronaviruses out there and other viruses) is about 8% looking at the ONS data for the last 7 days. If everyone in the country was tested over the last 7 days and 8% of us were found to be positive, then it makes you think how many of us over the last 40 weeks or so must have had it and built up immunity.

If the test result shows 'positive' it's quite possible it's not true at all. Boris & pals need positive test results to keep this sham going. Run away, run away, it's behind you!
I've read tales of people going to test centres, not being bothered once they saw the length of the queue, went home untested ... three days later 'positive' test results in the post. True or false?
It's not the cough that carries you off it's the coffin they carry you offin!

You give your contact details at the Centre ..they 'tick' you off as being there..you then get your test..you fill in the details on the test pack which you then put in the container to go to the lab... I cannot see how it can be as Foxy says..Does he really believe all the drivel that he posts? The above statement from Foxy to me is another pile of dung.....

Who knows what to believe? I expect Patty will say the person who wrote that on Trucknet is 'a pile of dung'.
Everyone is an expert in this game, it seems!
Deadly & terribly contagious virus ... but OK to send kids to school. Don't even know if it is a natural virus or man-made one. Origin obscure - bat soup / bioweapons lab / USA dunnit.
Police arrest single man for going to friend's for cup of tea. Police do not arrest several politicians for travelling under curfew.
Very few facts, anyway, all made-up graphs and statistics.
YouTube / Twitter / Facebook actively banning comments that don't fit in with their agenda.
All bizarre, but has made for an unusual and interesting year.

one day fucksy will wake up and realise that grown-ups read proper newspapers and will no longer be influenced by fairy stories and space fiction.

I mentioned my experience because virtually every news report I have seen and heard has been full of negatives, queues, travelling miles, waiting endlessly etc.
My experience could not have been more different ... a quick phone call, choose a test time to suit myself, no queues, less than three miles from my home to the site.
If anyone requires a test, don't be overly concerned about the process ... my experience was excellent.
Jane (currently days off) is still working and as I've developed a cough overnight (I am certain is my usual catarrh) it seems only fair to seek confirmation that I am covid negative for the benefit of her work colleagues, and to permit Jane (who is totally well) to return to work after her days off.
I am utterly certain that I am wasting the testers time ... but I am following current advice and doing what I can as requested.
I will report when my result comes through ... anything upto three days I am told but we'll see.
Rog
ETA The test swab (self done in the car) was sealed in two bar-coded bags and submitted into a sealed hazard box having been scanned.

Fingers crossed for you Roger. Of the few I know that have had tests, itβs a pretty mixed bag on how well organised testing was. Anyway, seems the good old US of A are going to save the day, again. A vaccine that works. Well done America.
