I moved from windoze to Android 7 years ago, at present am running a Huawei 10"tablet and a Moto G8 phone. The joy is that both are identical so it doesn't matter which I pick up I have access to all my data. Wouldn't entertain Apple it's a rich man's plaything. Chromebooks will do what you need I prefer not having a physical keyboard so not for me. I still have a windoze 10 laptop with SSD but it spends most of the time in the cupboard only coming out to be the 3rd backup for my data/photos, the others being cloud storage. Hello Loddon, I too parted cash for a Huwei tablet, it is a nine months old and costs £20pcm, contract still has fifteen months to run. I suspect its not charging properly, in that it seems to take as long to charge than to discharge, I think its about four hours. If I use the radio while it is connected to a Usb, it does not seem to charge , well not much. It is possible the usb is not providing enough juice, how much output is required, there seem to be different outputs available. Also .... my laptop seems to be on last legs, how do I backup my spreadsheet? I have a dongle. select file / right click / send to / select usb drive (probably f: or g:) usb stick must be plugged in, confirm connectivity by opening 'my computer' ('this pc' if you are using windows 10) drive should be listed, if it isn't then it isn't working. If this is incomprehensible then stick head in bucket of fish.

My Huawei is about 2 years old or so I charge it overnight so have no idea how long actually it takes. One thing to be aware of is it only charges to 80% to protect the battery, it does tell you this in the notifications in the top left hand corner of the screen and then gives you the option to charge to 100% if needed. Mine is charged from a 2.1amp usb socket when on the boat and when I have charged it during the day it seems to take longer than when on the mains charger. As for discharge I get 4-6hrs depending on use before I get to the 20% warning. Cant answer about backup all my documents are stored in the cloud on Dropbox and or Google Drive

I've noticed that my Lenovo tablet charges a lot quicker if switched off - which is logical I suppose.
Important files should always be backup up somewhere, whether it be usb stick, external drive, or the cloud. 2TB drives are around £55 these days.

I now have a new chrome book, which is very nice, but I don't know how to get my docs in to a spreadsheet, it seems that Google docs so called sheets are for business, ie chargeable, can I get my apache open software on my chrome, if I can't, I might have to return it!

Google sheets is there for nowt, use it with my personal account all the time on my Chromebook, or whatever machine I log in with. Swmbo uses it on a windoze 10 old laptop. Does it not show up in the dots menu too right of Google search/home page?

Doesn't that require you to switch to Linux in the Chromebook, which I believe most new Chromebooks do ? Mine is too old, runs out of support in September, I've used it for 5 years with no issues at all. I'm going to replace it with another, looking forward to being able to run Linux too. I'm certain sheets runs for free though.

I've returned the chromebook, an Asus £399 (now reduced) which had a slight fault in manufacture, but had it for a week, I found the touch pad performance deteriorated in that short time, presumably needs special cleaner. Due to extreme use of my bank account this month, I have bought a notebook, £4.99, and a nice pen £3.00. I think I can manage Internet ting with my tablet, I really don't do much 'work', and my own hardware is pretty much obsolete in today's world.

"Oh dear, what can the matter be" I kept the tablet, but it has developed a fault, I wonder if I should take it back to Three and demand a replacement, that did not work with my phone, but I really need to do something, I'm not sure if it has a factory re boot button, the kind that you use a special pin, there is an aperture, but it could be a speaker.

The speaker hole is standard size so should not be able to confuse it for the pin hole used for reset. If in doubt just look Utube there are always loads of clips showing you how to do it. Phil
