With all this talk of a covid vaccine becoming available there's also a lot of talk about the 'antivax' brigade. It seems that, according to the BBC at least, if you don't wish to receive this vaccine you're evil beyond description. It's all black and white to the BBC eh?
I personally will not be offering myself to have this barely tested chemical injected into my arm. This does not make me 'antivax'. I'm simply exercising my choice as a human being as to what I have injected into my body. I believe humans should be free to make their own choices as much as possible rather than being forced by totalitarian governments or being beaten into submission by large well funded media organisations working in cahoots with them into being injected with whatever they choose for you.
If I catch covid and die so be it.

Fair enough, just so long as you don’t get very ill with COVID and expect to occupy a hospital bed for weeks simply because you have spent too much time reading fake news on social media.

Why would Ricco need to occupy a hospital bed if he contracted Covid? He would need to occupy a hospital bed if he contracted COVID and it rendered him unable to breathe on his own, as has happened to many people. Of course he might contract COVID and not need a hospital bed, we can’t predict whether he would or not. Or is the depth of your intoxication with fake news social media sufficiently strong to make you believe that no-one really needs to go into hospital with COVID, it is all a hoax?

Why wouldn't he. Boris and Trump needed a hospital bed... They never had Covid. Boris wanted a few days off, and Donald didn't want to be left out of this latest fashion for sympathy.

Why would Ricco need to occupy a hospital bed if he contracted Covid? it is all a hoax? There's certainly many people making a lot of money out of it. Does the UK have many billions left anymore to keep people on furlough until next Easter? If Covid were really dangerous, why haven't I come down with it, after being exposed to all and sundry?

Considering the average progress time for a vaccine is ten years, and this vaccine has achieved it's present stage in ten months, I can understand Clinton Cool and others being scared. However at his age it would be a considerable time before he would be offered the opportunity, by which time many millions will have received the vaccine and the data available will be massive. I suspect those at greatest risk (over eighties with pre existing health issues) will be more than happy to take any risk. Rog

But of course it isn’t actually a drug, it is a bit of RNA, so the possible range of side effects is pretty limited. Limited to either nothing much apart from the production of a few antibodies and T-cells targeted at the virus, or the RNA taking over the body and turning it into one enormous virus. So nothing to worry about.

I would not accept a hastily cobbled together vaccine for all the tea in china. Not on your nelly and not in my body. I'm like "don't even GO there"
If this means I have to continue social distancing and self isolation (and self insolation during these nice warm summers) then so be it.
I can't believe that a flu variant is going to alter the behaviour of society beyond recognition forever... Very sad really.
And all bollocks. Or should that be bollock$.

Or is the depth of your intoxication with fake news social media sufficiently strong to make you believe that no-one really needs to go into hospital with COVID, it is all a hoax? Certainly I've noticed what Ricco has noticed, the incredibly partisan coverage of news of the vaccine- somewhat akin to "If you don't believe in God, you will burn in Hell". I thought you went to a proper school? Didn't they teach you that debate is a healthy thing? Is it really outlandish to suggest that a vaccine developed in a matter of months cannot possibly have been tested to a satisfactory standard when the process normally takes 15 years? How can it have been tested on pregnant women and proven not to cause birth abnormalities when Covid has only been a thing for the same length of time as the female gestation period? And certainly yes, it is a hoax to the degree that the predicted dangers back in February has been nowhere near matched by the reality we have all seen in everyday life- not the television. The empty and deserted Nightingale Hospital at the NEC which I drove past this week is testament to that. If I choose not to have the vaccine, how does that detrimentally affect you in any way if you have had the vaccine?

I saw a bloke with little arms cycling in Marlow today. He was actually quite a competent cyclist. They looked like thalidomide arms but the bike was adapted for it. Could have been something else.
I was like "I'm not going to judge you on this but everyone is going to be looking at your arms and you are going to cause road accidents old chap "

If I choose not to have the vaccine, how does that detrimentally affect you in any way if you have had the vaccine? You clearly don’t understand the difference between this vaccine and a drug. Anyway, you should have said you were thinking of having a baby, I could have started knitting little socks! The reason why the nightingale hospitals weren’t used was because we had a lockdown that proved effective. If you and your groupthink friends choose not to have the vaccine it means that some of you will end up in hospital cluttering the place up so that people without self-inflicted injuries have to wait longer for medical care. Some of you will die. Shame. Some of you will get “long COVID” and be unable to work for months or years and will be living off my taxes, which to be honest I would rather were spent on a more worthy cause. I know 2 people who have had the virus, both have been incapacitated for many months and are still not right, so it is not just about whether you are going to die or not.

Or is the depth of your intoxication with fake news social media sufficiently strong to make you believe that no-one really needs to go into hospital with COVID, it is all a hoax? Your second paragraph mentions fake news. Many people (the government and the BBC, especially) associate those who do not wish to be vaccinated with consumers of fake news. This is a mistaken assumption. Some of us make up our own minds without subscribing to extremist websites. We might feel we were born free without having a choice in the matter and while we accept the latter we take the former as being the purpose of our existence. People are entitled to have beliefs. Beliefs can be protected in law but most unfortunately the tick list of 'acceptable' beliefs is somewhat limited. And so, those of us whose soul thrives on being relatively free from others telling us what we should do and would rather subscribe to Darwinism rather than Socialism are subjected to systematic vitriol which can border on being intolerable. Of course, this is seen by society as being ok, it's only black/gay/women/disabled/foreigners who are victims of discrimination.
