I always wondered how would an independent Scotland work? The monarchy of England own over 40% of the land. Would they give it to the people of Scotland?? From 1603 to 1707 Scotland and England were two kingdoms under the same monarch. The monarchy of England ended with Elizabeth 1; her successor was James VI of Scotland. George I , the first of the Hanoverian line, succeeded to the throne by being the son of Sophie of Hanover, who was a grand daughter of James VI & I. The monarchy is not "English": British perhaps.

Yes I have an understanding of the history, so your suggesting an independent Scotland would have the queen as monarch? So the queen would be sovereign over two different independent countries? Sounds like a major obstacle to me. But I suppose if Scotland still wanted to be subjugated and independent in name only it might work.

It seems improbable that anyone would be willing to vote for a ginger queen.

I thought you were considering putting up a poll on here but I see what you mean now. It's very queer but yes I suppose Telemachus was born to it so that's it. Oh well I suppose he is quite old so maybe at some stage poof! he will vanish in a plume of smoke and someone else will be able to take over as monarch.
