The situation in the States seems much like it was here post Brexit, lots of screaming and demos because some people didn't get the result they wanted. It's simple, there was a vote and Trump won......live with it. Phil
The Powers That Be- "We are going to flood the labour market with workers from post-Communist economies who can earn four or five times as much on the UK minimum wage than they can at home meaning that we will never have to give you a pay rise again, while the cost of your housing rises astronomically. This will impoverish you, but make a few of us enormously wealthy, but since we few also control the media, we are going to going to create a climate in which anybody who objects to our plan is depicted as an evil racist whose views are motivated solely by "hatred of foreigners".
Gullible Remainer- tugs forelock- "Ok Sir, that's fine by me".
'The Powers That Be' three posts above - I see it here and now today, with Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians and Poles taking the piss out of Finnish workers. If they did the same work for the same pay, or in fact demanded more pay and better conditions, and paid Road Tax instead of having their vehicles registered in their home countries, then perhaps I would respect them more. They really are no better than scabs at a strike, literally taking the bread out of the mouths of their hosts.
Quiet minds cannot be perplexed or frightened but go on in fortune or misfortune at their own private pace, like a clock during a thunderstorm.
I hope that I never become famous and someone trawls my contributions on this site looking for the odd post which may be offensive.
I've just been reading about the protests that have been going on in the states.
I'm struggling to comprehend why people should protest the result of a democratic election.
Discuss, argue, debate, I can understand. The electoral college system is weird, but it always has been. The anomaly that more actual votes can be cast for a losing candidate only ever gets mentioned when the result goes in a way the individual didn't want.
I suppose it must be like slowly waking up after a boozey night, and with embarrassment, remembering what you did (so they tell me).
I watched question time last night, had to turn it off in the end! The people apart from one were so anti Trump just a farce, just goes to show we had a lucky escape with yvette cooper an utter and total arse along with the SNP thing!! They had a rabid dog women from the american democrats she was off her trolley completely, the conservative MP spoke sense and the Republican lady was clever articulate and spoke sense. The reason you are seeing the Washington riots is because it is a very democratic stronghold, like the the remoaners they hope to change the will of the people. If you can watch it on catchup do but dont have anything heavy in your hand TVs are expensive
I voted remain because I believed it was best for us.
I would have voted Clinton had I been a participant.
But the fact is, following due democratic process, the other side won.
What happened to conceding defeat gracefully, and then working to make the outcome as good as it can be.
What odds did your Trump bet pay out at? (If you don't mind me asking)
