As I have said, mechanical, electrical and stoppages sections are required in the interests of Boating - especially stoppages, those affect us all on the waterways. I made a stoppages section a while ago because you had suggested it.

"Anyway, all 3 have vanished from my inbox now...how strange. Pretty sure I read somewhere that MOD's didn't have access to folks PM's I have started more topics on here since joining in April than I have over there. I've stated 5 topics on there from February to June. Trimmed as a nod towards bandwidth saving. I agree, This site has been evolving quite rapidly and as Ross has said in other posts, it seems to have a core of interesting people with a good sense of humour. I have also started quite a few posts on here ..... it's easier to talk to people on here as there are very few that take offence easily. If you are not interested .... then you don't bother reading it. When CWDF trolls come on the site then you can swear at them or take the piss which ever you feel like. (It's odd isn't it, the most objectionable posts on here always come from sock puppets from CWDF, not genuine members) You are right that we probably need to develop more "boaty" topics and themes but I don't think we should get carried away, evolution rather than revolution

How's this for unbelievable... Logged in late last night to check my PM's and noticed that 3 of them had been removed/deleted. 2 from Wigglefinger; first one saying she would do everything in her power to ensure I wasn't sanctioned even though I had broken the rules & some other dribble that had to tone of speaking to a wee naughty child, which I responded to quite firmly and then her reply apologizing for the way she had written the first one. The 3rd PM was another one from a different MOD also apologizing, this time for no one getting back to me regarding when we would hear/be told what the outcome would be of the locked threads and if they were locked forever or would be unlocked again Anyway, all 3 have vanished from my inbox now...how strange. Pretty sure I read somewhere that MOD's didn't have access to folks PM's Anyone else have any experience's similar? If the sender deletes a message they have sent you then I'm pretty sure it also deletes from the recipients inbox. ive had a few innocuous messages sent to me and subsequently be deleted. ed - just checked my CWDF PM inbox and although some messages show as 'deleted' in red I can still click on them and read them, have you tried actually clicking on them?

As I understand it the "deleted" refers to having been deleted from the other person's mail box. As far as I know it shouldn't be possible for someone else to delete it from your own mailbox.

The admin has the ability to do this. Yes I'm sure they do, but would they want to bother? Well under the specific circumstances, perhaps they would but it must have been Dan (if indeed they have been removed from BB's mailbox).

Well, I've PM'd both Dan & Lady Muck and received replies from both...Dan says it can't happen as MOD's don't have that ability, and Lady Muck replied that she accidentally hit a wrong button and blocked (I "think" that's the word she used) the Wigglefinger correspondence, but she didn't remember sending me a PM herself. Maybe I got it wrong and it wasn't from her, but there definitely one from another MOD. She has fixed whatever it was that she did and the Wigglefinger ones have reappeared in my PM box
Just to clarify, "deleted" might be the wrong word. The PM's were in my PM box, a couple of days later when I checked they were nowhere to be found, it wasn't that I didn't have access to them, they simply weren't there.
lol, maybe I need to contact my doctor to check if I need stronger meds as my dreams are so realistic I now can't tell reality from dreams
Anyway, no big deal really, I was just wondering if it had happened to anyone else.

I wonder if a large part of the problem stems from Dan wanting the forum to further his career (via CV) and social/social media interests. This may have partly led to: Wanting a suitably sanitised forum to support the above. Selecting moderators for that purpose instead of their moderating skill and a balance of views. Portrayal as 'site owner' (does he reeeeally pay for all of it? should we?) Not wanting to relinquish any control whatsoever. AFAIK the original founder Jon was in the police and was very wise to keep his public and forum identity separate. Maybe the threat of the forum withering to nothing will force Dan's hand a bit, but I'm not holding my breath. Unfortunately I may have encouraged matters some time back by giving some praise to the MM moderator sub group (does BoB have the male version?? ). So, mea culpa, humble pie eaten and all that.

I agree with 90% It seems to me that a site like CWDF or Thunderboat are like organic entities and if someone tries to stamp their authority or persona upon it they will destroy it. Dan's actions in my personal opinion are not reversible, the damage is done and the trust that existed gone. Whatever actions he now takes, as long as he remains the "owner" (how the hell can you own the words and opinions of umpteen members) I think CWDF is on a slide to morbidity. If someone else takes over ? ....... I don't know. I do know however, that whatever happens I will be, from now on, a Thunderboater

Even if they offered amnesty I wouldn't go back to cwdf. Not after the treatment received, well okay maybe to take the piss out of the plumber. While ever Dan won't relinquish control the only way for it is down. Let's face it they signed cwdfs death warrant by trying to stifle open discussion. The latest development of closing the Leigh ravencroft thread, I feel is very worrying. Dan has allowed cwdf to become the instrument of crt/shoosmiths dirty tricks dept.

It's nice to see carlT back and giving them some grief Shame he doesn't feel inclined to get involved here, I've always enjoyed his posts.
