On Dulcinea the steel bulkhead between bridge and shower room is just lined with plywood with a lot of gloss paint on it. Seems to be ok but it doesn't get a huge amount of use as apparently washing can make one more supsceptible to C19. At least in my case ! It stays nice and dry because the fire is cleverly fitted into the bulkhead which is steel so the heatproof surround behind the fire also transfers heat to the shower room as the metal back is exposed. That's quite clever actually. Back of fire Steel plate in shower room with bolts holding fire to the bulkhead

That sink would have gone the day I purchased the boat

Agreed, my loo and shower are done out in this type of 'marbled plastic', I really think it's practical , but no WOW factor. What I have there now is just too disgusting for words, so I do need to do something, and something easy to install. The basin is the most urgent item on the list and as I'll need to completely re-do the mounting for this then I may as well do the cladding at the same time. The flowers are very pretty, shame to lose them and they are apt. Here’s a suggestion, rather than replace the whole lot why not just clean it a bit?

Even I thought of that and I am not that well known for cleaning much.
Having said that I have never had a basin quite that rough on any of my boats.
If it is plastic of course if might not be possible to clean it anyway.

Good job there is no bath, I hate to think what would be growing ( or growling ) in it.

If it is plastic of course if might not be possible to clean it anyway. It's not dirt, it is where the plastic has degraded. In fact the bottom of it completely rotted through and as a stop-gap measure I stuck it all back together with fibreglass and car body filler. I was hoping to be able to find an identical sink so I could just re-varnish the plinth and drop the new sink in, but no amount of internet searching located one. Similarly with the wall panels, the surface covering has broken down allowing water to get in. Being hardboard this has led to a bit of a vicious circle.

Oh yes I seem to remember it being discussed some time ago. Yes it would be handy to find an identical pattern one.

Can't you just use some of that 'reviving' solution that sits on the RH side of the sink?
PS. You could see if quaysider would pay for the Lux Soap that is hiding behind the tap/showerhead - might help with refurbishment costs...

I could supply a bottle of Cif - he'll have to use his own elbow grease... Isn't there a TV show on council house telly where well meaning idiots go into squalid homes and clean them up??? perhaps he could audition.

# Mr Stabby This isn't exactly the same but looks like it might be close enough .... 15.5" from corner point to front edge and 21" from left to right. SAM_3205 by mudlarker, on Flickr Didn't want to mention it before as I couldn't remember where the hell I had hidden it away. It's surplus to requirements, brand new with it's box it still even has the protective thin plastic film over it. bought for a job years ago and not used.

I have however purchased a brand new and unused but pre-owned and very cheap (as I am very cheap) ceramic corner basin on ebay. I've had it a while and have been waiting for the round tuit that I need to install it with. With Sam coming up this week and me taking time off work for the MOT now seems the time.

I'll hide it away again, I'm sure one day someone will come along that needs it

Not many narrowboats have saunas (if any). Yea, strange that, innit?
