quote "I have always been able to circumvent it" sort of like the French and EU rules ? When the chips are down you do the right thing regardless of laws while trying to keep out of the shit. Am I wrong? I believe most people on average behave not due to laws but due to common sense and respect for others/themselves but then I don't read the Daily Mail. If you think about how few police there actually are - in Ely when I left there weren't any at all and I am not exaggerating. There was a police station, but no police in it. Ely is a city!

Furlough looks suspiciously like a scam to get well paid middle class idiots to continue with their spending habits while introducing them to the "maybe you don't have to go to the bloody office" situation. The .gov support packages do not seem to be well balanced but it is worth noting that it is a Tory government obviously looking to be re-elected by means other than the opposition being completely pointless. It could just be the modern interpretation of the old Thatcher homes for votes scam. I s'pose that folk who don't need to work might well be slightly cynical about taxes being spent on furlough. .......................... just sayin'

I suppose wealthy people whose income exceeds the tax threshold and therefore pay tax might be annoyed but as mine has never done that and I have never paid any tax I am not at all bothered by where tax payments go.
But I can still see how people who do pay into the system and are still obliged to work could be a bit annoyed by others who were earning far more than they ever will being paid a good proportion of their wages to not work.
I'm the world's no.1 fan of not working but have always done it at the expense of things like owning property and nice cars.

I see it's being reported that the Scottish one has banned Scots from travelling to other parts of the UK.
How does that work, can they travel to Europe?

Maybe Nick will know but she's also said (according to the news) the English can't cross the border either.
Now the question is can she actually close the border like that?

Tier 4 in Essex !!! ..... This is a bit awkward ..... I was originally intending to travel down to Essex (tier 3 to tier 3) last Friday.
My sister and I had been very careful to isolate for a while beforehand. Due to a non delivery of a prescription request to my GP (which I only found out when I queried about 10 days after it had been sent) I arranged for the medical supplies to be sent to Essex as it was by then too close to me travelling for it to be sent to Hull.
The day before I was meant to travel a very good friend had a very nasty fall (hospitalising him for several days and has put him on crutches for many weeks) I postponed my travel plans and put 5 days of work in at his business helping with some of the jobs. I was planning on travelling Christmas eve and have checked the car over, packed etc etc ...... and then the announcement.
I am still going to have to travel as in about 10 days or so I will need the medical supplies ....... that are in Essex. It's too close to me running out for them to be shipped up to me in Hull especially as it is over the Christmas period. So I do have a genuine need to travel. I was going to travel probably Christmas eve to give the maximum number of isolation days possible before travel.
Damn ....... it's been a sod of a year hasn't it

Yes she is effectively closing the border over the Christmas period and no, I didn’t vote for her and nor did the majority of Scottish voters. Yes it does annoy me, for example if she said you can’t travel from level 1 in Scotland to tier 4 in England, that might be fair enough. But to just close the border regardless of the area you intend to travel to, is just the usual anti-english xenophobia. One can still travel to anywhere else in the world though, which seems very odd.
On the other hand, the Welsh have been closing their border more than Nicola has, so she is not setting a precedent. And of course the border is still open for “essential reasons” so there is wriggle room.
We were planning to go down to the boat and see my mother and sister on Christmas Day but that is now off the agenda, but it is not the end of the world - it is just a day much like any other day.

I predict serious social unrest in Summer 2021 if restrictions are still in place then.

I don't understand that, if they have a job they should just be glad they are able to get out and about, have a nornal life, what is wrong with people, working for wealth or even survival is a good thing, let them try having a wheelchair existance and income, and see how they like it.

Well that's us into tier 3. With the rest of hampshire fingers into tier 4 I can see us joint them very soon. Most people in the forest work elsewhere and vice versa. Everyone will be mixing anyway.
