The only donation to the RNLI I will make now is to a local station. Since the sacking of some of the Whitby crew and the woke attitude of the corporate body, donations from me are few and far between. The guys and gals at the coal face do a wonderful job, but they are let down by corporate management. In the past I used to donate at local events or at local stations (for those that are not aware, local donations are spent on that station and do not go into national coffers)
I have also occasionally donated to a couple of private lifeboat services (Humber Rescue and Caister lifeboat)
This year I have not given anything, which is probably the first time since 1965 apart from a couple of occasions when I was on long trips away.
I need to correct that, but I am loathe to give to the National fund at the moment.
We have one a couple of miles away, we have always gone to their open days. I agree with Ross, the RNLI and Air ambulances shouldn't need public funding. However, I do like the way most people who might need to use the RNLI mostly donate.

However, I do like the way most people who might need to use the RNLI mostly donate. I used to donate to the Welsh air ambulance when I was regularly competing there in the Welsh forests - I hoped and prayed I’d never see them! My brother had an off from the roof of his van loading his ladders up - fractured skull, bleed on the tissue between brain and skull and a flight on the Norfolk air ambulance - made what we assume is a full recovery 🙈 A good lump went to them from me for getting him to o hospital pronto. With the move to Peterborough I hope and pray we never see that fast orange boat in the Wash, if we do I shall at least have put a bit in over the years rather than taking it out without contribution.....

Well looking at the rules now is Foxy coming or not? shall we have a poll on it? In all seriousness, and not singling Foxy out - people are not allowed to travel into and out of the tier 4 area. Oh, unless they are flying in from abroad. Ridiculous

I mean, if he comes and then after Christmas he tries to fly home and as he is coming from an area in a plague ridden country that even the sick are not allowed to enter because it's too dangerous ........ They might not let him back in .......and we might end up stuck with him
