An element of the tragedy was that the skipper of the cargo vessel refused help at a time when it was still possible to have averted disaster. Its been a while since I've watched that film, but I think its discussed.

The guy I bought my house off is the coxswain on the lifeboat in Barmouth. No vacancies at the moment but if one crops up before I'm too old, my name's on the list. Fair play to you - considering all that has gone on this year - this is probably one of the standout posts to the forum. Massive respect to you ✊ Just feels natural to me. If an individual who crosses your path needs help you should give it to them, regardless. As apposed to government interfering in everything, deciding who's worthy of help and not and then managing individuals finances accordingly. My outlook feels human, the government's inhuman, in my humble opinion. On a more selfish note there's potential for excitement in such a volunteer role, I like excitement.

Wasn't going to mention this but somehow feel a need to.
Six of the eight crew were ex Boy's Brigade members, which links into how I knew the friends I spoke about earlier and also why they were at my Dad's funeral.
Was just going to post this from Gazza's link
But thought I'd post this as well - the BB hymn.
I was in the Boys Brigade.
