Takes time i guess, Seaching google for a canal forum doesnt get any hits on the first couple of pages and likewise searching for boat forum. Searching for Thunderboat doesnt get a hit but searching for Thunderboat forum does.

judging by the stats that Delta9 posted , they are visiting in their hundreds. As the format has been improved and the number of threads and posts grow I suspect many more will consider joining (in spite of the rather clumsy attempts to de-rail.)
It is interesting that even the more contentious posts on here, so far, have been better natured than when on CWDF, maybe because we have lost "disgusted of Camberly" and others of the Faux offended brigade

You could be right John Its better if the forum grows at a proper pace evolving rather than being swamped and then crashing

and the intemperate nature of much the content in general on the new forum. Regards, Lady Cassandra I can't help but wonder what makes LC think she can micromanage every single aspect of CWDF? I wonder how long it will take Dan to realize that CWDF was a much better place before LC and wigglefingers were allowed to make it "their forum". If what has been posted on this forum so far displays an intemperate nature, I'll eat my hat. The little actual debate about politics that has taken place, as far as I've seen, has been almost congenial. The problem with the debates on CWDF is that there were 3 or 4 members who insisted upon having the last word and would get in a pissing contest with another of the 3 or 4 on almost every thread and it turned into page after page of the same childish BS. CWDF could have banned just a few people who were causing all the perceived problems and those problems would have gone away. The problem is, those who were actually causing the perceived problems by insisting on having the last word, and most of those engaging in the endless, childish back and forth, were the goody-two-shoes of the forum who are also quite adept at pulling other peoples' strings and making them look like the bad guys.

Im sad to say that today i have cancelled my monthly £1 subs for the upkeep of CWDF.
Its not the place it was as far as an entertaining and informative passtime for me. The above type of moderation to delete links to other sites is a very petty action indeed, especially as the offending remarks to Dan were made by one of their own with the intent of causing unrest.
Delta was told many times to go and start his own forum if he wasnt happy with the new way of working on CWDF. This he did and the result was a deliberate attempt by a CWDF member to mess it up.
Any one want my spare £1 this month?
ETA I wish them well non the less

I seem to recall that before the last mention of thunderboat was deleted on cwdf that somebody said Dan had now agreed to allowing a mention of thunderboat in a signature line? Ive had it on my cwdf profile since it began and a fluffy mod checked my profile yesterday and the thunberboat link still remains. I think the answer is indeed a balance of boating topics and serious issues, that was the formula that worked on cwdf till the prissy brigade moved in. edit to add...spoke too soon... as follows from the prissy brigade Dear Chagall This is to let you know that I have removed the links to the Thunderboat forum from your "About me" section and the "status" section of your profile feed. Whilst we wish the new forum well, it is the decision of Daniel, the Site Owner, and the moderating team that linking to the new forum from CWDF is not allowed, nor is forum cross-talk. This is because of the comments regarding Dan and the wider team and the intemperate nature of much the content in general on the new forum. Regards, Lady Cassandra My 3 recent warnings, current 'requires mod approval before posting' status, removal of innocent posts and removal of my signature are down to the same person. I've PM'd Daniel to ask him to think about it but I don't hold out much hope. It's his forum and I wished him luck.

Well, I've been lurking for a while but have now registered. It is true to say that the discussions on here haven't turned out to be anything like as aggressive or unpleasant as they were on CWDF. I put this down to the 'determined to be offended' types that were there, some of whom managed to volunteer for mod duty. Others were just determined to never let an argument cease without having the last word. Roger

This is my take on it as well Roger, I mentioned in another thread on here that it was an odd coincidence that one particular poster put on some pretty disgusting stuff and within a few minutes there was a post on CWDF screaming how everything on here was disgusting.......shall we say the timing seemed suspicious.

My only difficulty is trying to recognise who is who relative to their CWDF personas as some names seem to have changed considerably. I thought that I had it cracked when I first started lurking but now I don't seem to be able to remember them, doh!!!.....................OK, OK, it's my age you know. Roger

I had to choose a different name because somebody registered using my CWDF user name solely to post offensive messages. Needless to say it didn't fool anybody, but as the name had been taken I chose an entirely different one. The same thing happened to at least one other member.

It's funny that it didn't get removed until you mentioned it here. I bet they didn't notice it, but maybe Ms. Cassandra is lurking here They still haven't said anything to me about a blanket ban on Thunderboat links (or cross-talk) they just silently removed the link from my sig.

I can't say I have noticed any 'intemperate nature' here - I have made some daft posts (and deserve to be shot, I feel, sometimes) - but there hasn't been any bitching or unpleasantness, has there? Maybe I have just developed too much of a thick skin, and let too many insults just slide over me. At home I say all kinds of crap and my girlfriend just says "Yeah, yeah..." as she's got used to me and knows it's just nonsense. I do have a thin skin sometimes, and there was one recent story in the News that I couldn't read - about the couple stomping on their 2-year-old child. I also found it hard to watch the movie 'Schindler's List' - just gets my blood pressure up, so much unnecessary awfulness. Sorry - rambling again!
