According to the Beeb. Not going to be a great Christmas for those people with holiday homes /caravans flooded out. And isn’t that effectively on the Nene? Here’s hoping our Nene-dwelling boating people and their boats are OK.

I meant to quote you but it didn’t work. been a tough 24 hours here, mother in law made it out of her village today, she was mopping up flood water from her kitchen and pantry at 02:00 this morning

Hope the MILs home is ok.
I see there is also a flood warning at Upper Heyford after the Churwell bust its banks. The canal is rising and the EA are expecting homes there to flood too.
Its never a good time for a flood but it must be real hard on Christmas eve.

Last Christmas the Thames was flooding and the livestock field where Dulcinea was (and is now) moored near Medmenham was my own private rowing lake. At the moment it is up a bit but not over the banks. The Cherwell is a Thames tributary of course so maybe more to come.

It is never a good time to flood except when you get a lovely sunny day and a rowing lake with no flow over it. Boats to the right is where the River is and my boat was further up to the right. I quite like this but being a bit irresponsible I would.

Banbury town centre is reported as flooded, the Cherwell is running over into the canal.
Bus station will be wet again. Not to mention the services.

I meant to text you back - I have a dreadful Samsung non smartphone at the moment; not inclined to text at all! levels are dropping but everything is so waterlogged it will take a while - you should be ok on floating moorings, we are on scaffold and the main river at PYC! MIL is ok, not much sleep, tiled floor and a bit of resilience means she’s not too pissed off. Casualty is a rug and a stair runner. Lucky she listened to my advice and parked her car behind the old post office on higher ground. A soaking would have seen off her elderly Fiesta.

Thanks, she’s with us now - her cottage has been standing since the 1700’s so it will be ok, didn’t get to anything soft furnishings wise and it was run off from the fields rather than backing up sewerage infested flood water 😗
