sometimes creatures pick the wrong bit to chew. I once got the word "Sparks, we're in loose pack and the radar's gone on the blink and it's making a horrid smell" A large rat had crawled into the cabinet (probably nice and warm, this was in the days when everything was very large and had hundreds of those glass things, glowing inside) It probably thought a lovely warm haven from the Arctic cold ........ and then it tried to nibble the 15 Kv magnetron feed ..... instant charred ratty

Huh, so Freya chewed through a coiled up lead, that's nothing, one of our hamsters did exactly the same with the coiled lead on our vacuume cleaner after escaping and running loose all night. She was lucky to survive the 2 sleeping dogs. Phil hamsters r in a different league..we had one that we called Houdini ...up chimneys, under floorboards, behind walls to daughters bedroom where it shredded carpet to make a nest..from there up o attic before ending up where the chimney had been boarded in lounge at bottom of inglenook...sons then cut a hole to retrieve a very sooty hamster..it lived to nearly 3

Patty you are right, Hamsters are in league of their own, we had one which used to scream LOUDLY! If you upset it and used to sit in the back of her cage burning black candles . We had a couple of escape artists apart from the lead gnawer, I remember getting up one night for a waz and was treated to the sight of a big fat arse wobbling down the companionway and disappear into the innards of the freezer while another took the opposite direction and found it's way into the tumble dryer Phil
