I started a long reply to that, but gave up when I realised your post pretty much sums up what I wished when I was a hippy the first time around π It does come with a lot of risk to us, our freinds and family though! So are our world leaders nice people we can trust? Have we met them outside cameras and newspapers? Iβve pretty much parked those nominally in charge on the sidelines where they belong! Not freeman of the land stuff mind! Iβll be honest Iβm fed up to the back teeth with it all - if itβs not the Covid deniers itβs the hand ringing of Hancock, Whitty the NUT et al. I KNOW how bad it is, it comes home from work with Mrs Gazza after everyone of her shifts - that said having it as the only topic of conversation across nearly every single facet of life has just about worn thin! Gazza, I spent most of my life in defence. I always struggled with it because I questioned those at high level. Most of whom never had the bottle to lead from the front line as they did hundreds of years ago. I wonder whether those working on the front line of the NHS think the same?

Tho' much is taken, much abides; and though We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven; that which we are,Β we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. Bring on 2021 ... let it do its worst ... chin up and keep swinging Rog

2020 has been very grim but its seen some incredible acts of kindness and generosity. Crises such as these bring out the best and worst characteristics of the human race..on the one hand there are the greedy profiteers who make a killing out of despair and on the other there are those who have set up hubs to help the needy. I've been touched by the wonderful Community Spirit that has thrived around me..so much kindness and generosity towards those without food and goods. OK so there has been lots of complaining and moaning..that's human nature but we are getting through. I hope next year the vaccine will see the Pandemic under control. I am on a site that is frequented by people whose cruises are continually cancelled and I have found the constant short sighted comments irritating.... Very few of them look to what they've had ..the privilege of being able to cruise for months every winter seeing beautiful places instead they moan about when can they restart? Will it be the same etc.. Course it won't...they'll be going to countries whose infrastructure relying on tourism may be in states of collapse. I realised that the fab trip I completed in March could represent my last cruise, but it was a wonderful one to end with.... I'm not sure what I'll do with all my dance shoes and dresses though... Still never say never....

well said Patty.
much of our society has become so materialistic - it's all about me, me, me, and grab, grab, grab. "I wanna go to a rave, I wanna go to a pub and get drunk and make a fool of myself, I expect the NHS to look after me whatever stupid things I do."
my view is that schools have taught kids about 'respect' (as in adults must respect kids) and civil rights, but have done little or nothing to encourage responsibility and self-discipline.
god help us !

Aimed at Patty, hold on to your dresses and dancing shoes as you never know what will pop up. Chris had to cancel her cruise in 2018 due to her health, 2019 meant no cruise still because of her health but having battled it out at the end of 2019 she was well enough to book for May 2020 almost made it but P&O said no too risky so she has booked for for 2021 only to have that cancelled. Not to be beaten she has now got a cruise booked for 2022. I give her 10 out of 10 for Terrier like persistence. The one small problem is wardrobe centred but we should be able to get round that one . Phil

Jane's sister had a 'post breast cancer' Caribbean cruise booked with a friend (P&O staff member) for Spring 2020 ... had to be postponed to autumn, and then subsequently postponed until May 2021. They're anticipating a further postponement. Hope you get your cruise phil70 ... eventually Rog
