I've started to cut back on food ... no real diet just eating less and trying to focus more on veg and also cutting back on alcohol ... it is lovely but full of empty useless calories sadly. My weight has crept back up to 15 stone (up half a stone over the christmas period) when I prefer to be under 14st. I know quaysider (being a ginger James Bond figure and still young and athletic) is doing a SERIOUS starvation diet for two weeks ... how's it going so far ? Anybody else trying to lose weight and what methods are you employing ? Rog

This is mainly for weight loss, partly to rest my liver, and a little test of will power. Would like too lose 3-4 kgs.

It's flippant, I know, but the secret to weight loss is remembering that the hole in your face is bigger than the one in your arse. I got up to 17st 9lb a few years ago - it came to a head when I got up to go to the loo in a hotel bedroom and was confronted by a naked fat bastard which turned out to be the full length mirror.
From that point, I adjusted my diet modestly to include less carbs and more veg, stopped the 11pm fridge raids, walked the mile ansd a half to Waterloo from the office and cut down on the beer.
I'm now 15st 11lb, should probably be 15st or less but I feel OK and it's an easily sustainable weight that requires no particular effort, the change of habits is now routine. I lost about 3 to 5 pounds a month initially, and one day will do some more adjustments to drop a bit more. Probably.

I used to control my weight largely through exercise but now I'm knocking on a bit and had to pack in running I find I'm generally heavier. I've never really needed a special diet ... just cutting down on rubbish and portion size has always been enough. I'm also not vain enough to feel the need to live like a trappist monk ... it's more about clothes not being tight Rog

As someone who has always been a fat b'stard this subject has an interest for me. I find my secret to stopping my weight going up is to eat my main meal at lunchtime not in the evening, this means your body works to digest the food rather than it sitting in your gut.Breakfast is two Weetabix and some fruit. Lunch is light, a piece of Tuna and couscous or a pie and veg (no spuds), on a small plate. Dinner is veg soup followed by soft fruit and yoghurt. That all sounds easy enough but I have cut out beer for 5 days a week and drink over 2l of water a day. Snacks are raw veg rather than crisps. The other thing I do is rowing, in October when we bought the machine I could just get to 500metres before collapsing in a heap, I am now at 6000 metres in 29 minutes and can still breathe at the end, still got a long way to go to get to my target π I was 16/8 back in October droped to 15/13 just before Christmas and am now back to 15/13 having removed the Christmas excess. I haven't been below 14/4 since I left school if I can get there by the end of the year it would be great. My other target is to get my 6k time down to 25minures, I think that will be harder.

I have trouble putting weight on. Never been any noticeable amount above 11 stone. 6ft2.576 inches tall with a large frame so this is quite a low BMI but it's just the way I am.
Beanpole.
I do eat and am not anorexic. Happy to be hungry. Being hungry doesn't mean you have to eat it is just a fore-warning that at some stage eating would be a good plan.
I have not actually weighed myself for quite a while so I could have slipped above the 11st level.
It's possible.
Up until about 10 years ago I was closer to the 10st level.

I'm on a fasting diet haven't eaten for 4 days. Last nite I dreamt I was being chased by a huge marshmallow man who caught me and I had to eat my way out. This morning when I woke up the duvet had gone......π€ͺπ

My weight sort of stays within 49-51 kg... any heavier and my clothes feel tad snug, any lighter and I have to roll the waist bands over...I'm about 5'1" ... I weigh myself maybe once a fortnight and adjust eating habits according to what it is I walk hours n hours most days. I'm not doing dry Jan but have cut down the vino to couple or three nights a week. Youngest son here and doing all the cooking so suspect my weight will creep up.
Not gonna beat myself up either over a few lbs or fact I'm still enjoying vino Bl.... virus and restrictions has made life grim enough....

I am now SO slim, I keep slipping through the cracks in the decking on route up the pontoon! Seriously it's killing me this time. I'm doing my 10 mile walks (split into a 4 and 6 or 2 4's and a 2 but once they are done (and it's beginning to get dark) I CRAVE both Gin and food. I started off at 14 stone 2 and 5/8ths ... this morning, I sneaked an early weigh in and was 13 stone 9 and 7/8ths so I am making good progress. The "meal plan" (ie SLOP) is not being adhered to as having read the actual Carb grams per shake/soup/bar/dessert or whatever else they bunged in that box, it's not full on Ketosis - rather just very calorie restricted... instead, I'm 'using up' 2 items per day and having a high protein/low carb meal instead for dinner- along with the occasional protein snack . Breakfast is now overnight oats (weighed out) to be about 200cals with my prunes in for maintenance. In short - It's doable and I will keep doing it. I bought 6 pounds of butter (it'll keep) today whilst out walking to remind myself of the blubber being used from my body. I'm not gonna stop the "HARDCORE" approach until I get my first stone off... then I Will up to about 1200 calories daily for the 2nd stone and hopefully level off mid March at about 1500 daily and reintroduce alcohol in smaller measureless... THAT's the plan anyway... I've even got photos stuck to the fridge and larder cupboard doors of (if not quite a "six pack" version of my former self - at least a "flat pack" one)... Friday is "proper weights and measures record day as Chrissie (the lady who came for Christmas) is doing a similar regime and we are in competition - with HER keeping the official spreadsheet lol
