We sold a car this weekend, so now we need to buy another, Mrs has found one she likes in Bradford, she wants to go up on Saturday, is this permitted, I cant see much on the web. I am guessing no.. I suspect not. You could buy a car locally, is what the fuzz will say. A bit like if you were stopped on the way from London to Durham and said โI need to go shopping for potatoes, thought the shops in Durham looked niceโ. Although of course if it had been a trip to the opticians it would have been fine.

Peterboat really has got his knickers in a twist over the two girls. The police were too heavy handed, they should have talked with them & explained why they weren't happy-I got the impression they were quite verbally aggressive.By all means-fine groups, party givers/goers etc but in this instance they over reacted. It's behaviour like this that makes me personally worry about police states & lack of freedom even after lockdowns end.I don't need any more info' about spreading the virus as I'm fully aware without being preached at.

One problem with this, is that some of the scientists(who are not in charge by the way) and politicians, are breaking the rules. Oh, and just to add yet again, these women didnโt break the rules. You come over as rather thick at times Pete. Really and you are advocating its alright to spread the virus? I have no doubt thanks to these two ladies they will be the rules rather than guidelines. Politicians made the mistake of thinking people were clever enough to keep to the guidelines clearly they were mistaken Can you explain what rule they broke please peterboat ? Meeting one friend for exercise locally (5 miles away) with a take away drink ... which part of that spreads the virus or breaks the rules ... anymore than you and Jayne going out walking. Rog

You're allowed to make essential journeys ... you cannot buy a car at Bradford without making the journey. And I repeat again ... travelling in your car does not spread the virus as our esteemed PM assured the French in relation to channel crossing by lorry drivers in their cabs ... and if they didn't want customers at the garage (or take away food and drink establishments) the government would have shut them down. I would wait for a better time, but only you know if you HAVE to go now. Rog

Thing is we need the car for this weekend, she cant get to work without it.
She wants a Suziki swift and the only one we can find that we feel is worth the money is up north, all others are either not what we want or not priced correctly.
In my eyes its essential, but I fear the rozzers will be sitting somewhere on the M1 checking to see where cars are from.
Ah well, its only money if we get fined.

I would hope that the police (what few there are) would be busy doing more important stuff, than fining and alienating law abiding members of the community. In your position I would go ... but your shout Rog

What about getting an e mail (appointment sort of thing) from the garage ... you can show the police in the extremely unlikely event you are challenged ? Rog

You are wrong Trina, its about the police being fed up telling knobheads that they dont want people visiting these beauty spots, people came from London to go walking the other week!! The guidance is if the car journey isnt important dont do it, clearly this drive and walk wasnt it could have been done local, the other issue is three of the most vocal against this are boat owners who cant go to their boats. Today I have had to go to the business 3 cars that have electrical problems that need sorting, been in ordered parts and over the next few days they will be sorted. I will work in the other side of the garage away from the regular workers, when finished I will be away like today. One of the cars belongs to a consultant he assured me the car was clean and he was virus free, clearly he knows the pandemic is serious, we were listening to the debate on Radio 2 his only comment was when will these knobheads get it that this virus is killing young and old and we the NHS are close to breaking point.
So get over it Trina and hopefully none of us on here will find out how dangerous this virus is

As a afterthought if these 2 ladies hadnt been nicked, the next thing they would have done is put all over faceache what a lovely day they had had going for a walk where they did! The next day the place would have been mobbed by people from all over the place because clearly it ok because others have done it

Do NOT tell me I'm wrong or to get over it.Who on earth do you think you are ? It sounds like you've clearly had more contact with other people than I have.If you read my post carefully,I do not dispute that the virus is real-it's the attitude of the police towards the two females I don't like.So I suggest that you get over it & perhaps leave the garage work to the regular staff so you don't put them in any danger.

My first thoughts were they must have failed the attitude test. So they fines the. To teach em a lesson.
But I suppose we won't really know.
We went for a nice family walk along the coast yesterday and bumped into a family we know walking in the as direction. So shared a socially distanced walk.

I still think that .gov missed a trick early on in this.
They should have introduced a social distancing reward scheme.
Pay people to be socially distant.
Obviously it would be subject to scamming as with everything else but I reckon it would have worked.
You could have community awards for the most socially distant person and perhaps look at MBEs.

Lollygagger - for an 'unmoderated' forum, it's disturbing to see all your blue stars and 'Global Moderator' badge. Can't you hide that? Yes, we know your rรดle and appreciate it. Just sayin'. I haven't actually had any contact whatsoever with Delta, I just woke up one morning with all those stars. I don't think I have the powers to change it, I'd have tried but I couldn't be arsed, however just for you I'll go and look...
