The poll is:-
Should R. Parry step down and if so when?
Should C&RT be disbanded?
Multiple items can be voted on.

I’m not sure a poll was needed to determine the outcome!

I imagine CRT would like nothing better than a railways situation where the government stumps up for all the maintenance and CRT can concentrate on their pointless control freakery.

Franchises.
Boating could become a whole lot more expensive but for pleasure boaters who can afford it also a whole lot more pleasurable.
Mind you I have been told on numerous occasions there is no money in canals.
It's probably true.

I'd guess it's small fry if the maintenance budget and all the investments were sucked back into government in some form. That's where the money that's been wasted has come from.

Mind you I have been told on numerous occasions there is no money in canals. It's probably true. It’s already been franchised as such. Parry has taken a very 90’s approach in breaking the trust up into areas that receive a percentage of funding, and have to work within that budget. The majority of any works is now outsourced/franchised. It doesn’t work in reality. There are issues whereby the centre has no operational control or knowledge of what each area is doing. Hence the dire situation we are now seeing where the canal infrastructure is failing daily. Vast amounts of money are being lost to profit, contract managers and all of the wages and perks they require. The trust is in deep shit, and I’m amazed that the trustees allow this systematic approach of destruction to continue.

So Parry goes, new something takes over from CRT, new person in charge, new marketing campaign/signage change. Millions spent in the reorganisation. Whoopedoo!
Back to square one.
.gov needs to change the way it views the inland waterways and how that is financed and managed otherwise nothing changes.

I must admit, I thought the same. Mr Parry hasn't personally done me any harm. It's a bit like damning Boris because of Hancocks desire to push his own personal agenda. Who would you replace him with? Going back to your last point, surely it's the governments role to implement what their voters want. How do the general public see the future of inland waterways? That's the real question now that boaters are now perceived the minority. Hopefully we'll still get a look in as we still pay our fees! [End of naive mode]

No one (except a minority of boaters) will change the way they decide to vote based solely on Inland Waterway management and financing of. Most boaters are considered an 'aberration' to be tolerated at best.

Having travelled around the system since I was in my early 20s, I've seen very little change in the public's opinion of boaters. Since Tim & Pru, the dream of travelling around the network is even more one which they hope will become a reality one day. Those in parliament dream too... It must be shit being a politician...

Of course people dream. Long may that continue.
Just don't expect others to pay for it or moor outside my very expensive retirement waterside apartment seems to be the accepted position for many more though.
