I was just randomly thinking (as I do normally), I wonder whether the outside of our brain really did get too big?
I mean, I watch the ducks, sheep etc, and they seem pretty content most of the time. Even monkeys look content grooming eachother.
Then many of us drink or take drugs to dumb the outer brain down a bit to give ourselves some peace.
Is 'intellegence' really going to save the planet? After all it has coped for billions of years without us....

Ducks, sheep etc seem cute and are blissful in their ignorance, right up to the moment the wolf has them in its jaws and goes “crunch”. In other words, “nature is red in tooth and claw” but we’ve escaped that. It’s easy to forget the basics.

What people don't understand is that it is actually animals who are farming humans.
Sheep would have died out years ago if it were not for people eating them. And cows.
In fact probably all of the animals humans habitually eat and force to reproduce have only survived because of this.
There is an inherent intelligence in animals which does not concern itself too much about the wellbeing of other members of the species.
This is something which has been removed during human evolution and will probably cause the ultimate downfall of humans while the other animals just carry on..

AFAIK we are the first living thing to disrupt Darwin's theory by eliminating, for the most part, natural selection - which might involve being eaten alive. As a result we have encouraged or initiated climate change, pandemics and water shortages.
Perhaps the next stage of evolution of the human race will be the suppression of reproduction until our global population matches the available resources. Let us hope that we do that voluntarily and that it is not forced on us by cataclysmic change to our environment.

I firmly believe that the only way humans can survive is to become non dependent on animals as a food source and then completely destroy all animal species on the planet. All of them. No survivors.
Well maybe we can keep the insects but all the others can go as they are competition in a competitive world and we DO have the ability to destroy them currently.
Do it, before it is too late.
They are nicking the oxygen for a start, and consuming animals is undermining the human species ability to survive long term.
And I am not a vegetarian or a vegan.

It isn't our outer minds - you need to read up on different thirds of minds to find true enlightenment...
Can recommend some books about the scientific approach to mindfullness/hippyness if you wish.

I really pisses me off when someone comes on the tv and says they have 30 grandchildren, as happened the other day. Lots of cooing from the presenters, no one said “selfish bitch, don’t you realise humans are killing the planet”. I look forward to the day when admitting to having more than a couple of children is seen as socially unacceptable.

At least it's quick with little suffering. Yes, I'm sure there are oversized brains still working on reducing world population size. Nature will win.

I'll stick to science ta... Then why on earth start a philistine philosophy thread... ...fair play. You got me there. Then again, doesn't philosophy cover all bases? I bet there isn't one philosopher in SAGE! I'm willing if the chance arose...no fee...no shares...
