Are you about on Thursday @nemesis ? I could almost see the Russian sub from the car sales yard Sure. That sub is a sad joke.

Always wanted a Renault 5 turbo, lovey car.
Shame the turbos blew too often on them.

This is getting embarrassing now. It's a pensioners car isn't it. I've found a personalised number plate for it. Oh dear!! Obvious problem being that someone will deface it and it will end up looking like this: And I'll get pulled over by the Rozzers.

Anyway I decided against the Jimny as I don't really need that sort of off road ability. I did get a Suzuki but it is an Ignis. A 2018 Hybrid Ignis with automatic on demand 4x4. And it weighs about 900kg. 50 to the gallon will be child's play I have read of people getting 80 to the gallon. It's not a normal hybrid it just uses a combined motor generator for automatic restart after stopping and a low down torque boost for acceleration. 1.2 litre petrol will never be that torquey low down so it's a good idea really. Belt driven so silent restarts. Then it puts power back into the tiny lithium battery during deceleration. Quite clever actually time will tell if it works. Lovely. Had me grinning inanely during the test drive. Nice raised driving position, it's a tiny little car. And it's the right colour Paying balance and collecting it on Thursday. Bloody excellent. And they are even taking my nackered old Saab off me which is helpful ! Had a non hybrid as a courtesy car a few years ago. Quirky thing, gutless and dreadful steering feel. The Pioneer Nav/Stereo was awful. Looked quite funky in a mini Tonka toy sort of way. Ride was pretty good from what I remember. I couldnβt have lived with it for more than a day. That said I donβt live and drive in a big town or city and can appreciate a little car like that would come into its own in that environment. BTW, seeing as you drive in and around the Smoke, sit and watch this - episode 2 is a cracker!

It looks like it should be 4 times the size. Like a normal car.
But looks alright. If your happy then jobs a good un. Not sure a new car really suits your image though.

Thanks for that @gazza.
I actually like driving in and out of London, a smaller more economical car is going to be excellent.

Yes. Even my 2008 Saab 95 2.0 turbo (petrol, as all cars should be) is ULEZ compliant.
And my dream car the 2006 Mercedes CLS500 which I could have bought for less than the Ignis is ULEZ compliant as well.
However a 1990 Honda C90 isn't compliant and you would have to pay Β£12.50 per day for having such a planet destroying vehicle.

And of course a 2017 Bentley Bentayga with a 4 litre V8 diesel is exempt from the ULEZ charge.
This is good really as it will be a lot less polluting than the Honda C90.
Modern diesels are amazing.

When I first saw the Ignis I was like Yes? Or maybe No?? Loved the Renault. The Suzy is ok, proper size for a car as well, anything much bigger is just a waste of materials.

But !!! if you want to collect a load of firewood or 3 metre lengths of materials for a job........
or ...... to collect some really usefull item that is certain to come in useful one day that you have to collect now but its free but it will just fit in a big car or weighs a couple of ton and you need to collect it with a borrowed four wheel trailer ........ in other words everyday life for a liveaboard boat nut

Actually there was a review where someone pointed out that you can in fact fit a 9ft long 2ft wide object in the car if the passenger seat is lowered down. It's a LOT bigger inside than it looks like it would be. There was also acres of headroom for me and leg room I didn't need the seat right back. I think it will make the driving a lot more enjoyable and cheaper insurance, tax, fuel etc is also pleasing.
