Ive cropped the top of the mail off (don’t know what nosy Parker is looking in on TB!) but this is what lands in your inbox Along with the rather needy track and trace lot They have had an uphill challenge with me on that, non smartphone owner so can’t use that. App doesn’t work with an iPad Pro, they can’t email me a link as it diverts straight to my phone which can’t support the text format. They seem a bit angsty that I can’t get online - imagine that a bloke in his early 40’s not wedded to poxy modern technology?! One chap called on Wednesday but we had to get Lassie to fetch some help as he sounded like he was stuck down a mineshaft. A nice lady called today just as dinner was about to be served.I explained I had tried to speak to one of her colleagues and hoped Lassie managed to get someone to rescue him - Sadly it was a bit lost on her; high chance she had no idea what I was talking about. I also explained I hadn’t any contact with anyone other than those colleagues all ready isolating so gave her work’s postcode. I then went on to explain that the three of us were lockdown at home for the requisite 10 days and may end up getting cabin fever with unthinkable results. She said she needed at least 30 minutes of my time, I declined as I was buggered if I was eating cold food; even if I didn’t have a sense of smell I was still bloody hungry! Call at lunchtime tomorrow when we are not home schooling; sorry, can’t book a specific time - We will call back later - knock yourself out, I’ll likely as not be doing bath, book bedtime! Sure enough the phone rang but went unanswered. Oh well, I wonder if they will hit the jackpot tomorrow?!

Are you the first TB'er to go down with it.
God luck being stuck at home.
On the other point, they are plastic but you wanna see the state of mine. Filthy and covered in paint. When I get around to it they all need proper scrubbing but as they aren't really being opened at the moment it can wait.

So gentle reader - following on from the Arthur Marshal thread and the evidence that I have indeed been watching paint dry. Today has been spent painting 13 windowsills, what’s that got to do with COVID 19 you ask? Well, 3 people at my work seem to be the root of an outbreak. Despite best efforts and pretty good protocols several of us got caught up in it. I had a drive through test Tuesday at 11am expecting a negative result as I hadn’t had anything to do with those concerned and had zero symptoms. Mrs Gazza’s rapid test kits were and still are giving her a negative - not that it makes any difference as we are now all holed up together until a week on Saturday. Wednesday morning at 07:40 email and text to say I’m positive and half to isolate for 10 days. Bugger! Initially I was sceptical so cracked on farting about around the house to keep myself out of mischief and have a break from home schooling. Still no symptoms up to lights out last night. Today I got the tin of white gloss out as can be seen from above, now after all that waffle what has the paint pot got to do with COVID bar for being a prisoner in my own home? Well, my first symptoms came out! I can’t smell the damn stuff - a tin of proper oil based non drip not that wishy washy water based shite either!, nor could I smell the 3M Thinners No1 I used to degrease it all after sanding - that stuff is usually guaranteed to get you high as a kite! The girls have been complaining about the smell of paint, I told them not to worry, everywhere the queen goes smells like that so they should feel privileged I am treating them like royalty! Quick in ear temp check and I’m at 37.7c but feel fine. So, there we have it, I’m either going to be all caught up by the end of next week desperate to get back to work or my lasting legacy will be some rather tidily painted windowsills and an irritated bloke with a bearded, duff specs and a faulty memory! Take care and keep safe My son just had the loss of sense of smell and taste

I'd have thought most dirty soap dodging some boaters have lost their sense of smell already . Like those who've been before, I hope it's nothing more serious for you... although having just heard on the "news" (if it can be called that) the prospect of 500 quid payments to everyone testing positive.... AS cash flow is rather tight here on Ellis, perhaps I could pop round to care for you for a few hours???

AS cash flow is rather tight here on Ellis, perhaps I could pop round to care for you for a few hours??? We joked about this at work the other day - sort of like the old chicken pox parties of old; only with slightly higher risks involved! I’ll keep you posted if a cheque lands on the mat - I highly doubt it though! ETA - computer says no on the official guidance. www.gov.uk/government/publications/test-and-trace-support-payment-scheme-claiming-financial-support/claiming-financial-support-under-the-test-and-trace-support-payment-schemeEligibility You could be eligible for a £500 Test and Trace Support Payment if you live in England and meet all the following criteria: you’ve been told to stay at home and self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace or the NHS COVID-19 app, either because you have tested positive for coronavirus or have recently been in close contact with someone who has tested positive you’ve responded to messages received from NHS Test and Trace and have provided any legally required information you’re employed or self-employed you’re unable to work from home and will lose income as a result of self-isolating you’re currently receiving or are the partner of someone in the same household who is receiving, at least one of the following benefits: Universal Credit Working Tax Credit income-based Employment and Support Allowance income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance Income Support Housing Benefit Pension Credit If you’re not on one of these benefits, you could be eligible for a £500 discretionary payment if all the following apply: you meet all the other criteria listed above you’re on a low income you will face financial hardship as a result of self-isolating. £500 mil a week to ignore that and lob £500 at everyone according to the midday news just now - can’t see it myself!

Quick recovery needed !!! now off to sing happy birthday ..... can't be too careful can you What was it Fred Dibnah used to say? - Get it wrong and It will be half a day out with the undertakers! Funny isn’t it, not quite 40 years ago UB40 sang this song but for obviously very different reasons. bit of a tweak of the lyrics and if you believe the worldwide stats that ratio neatly pops up again! What is a major pain in the arse with this all kicking off, I have a YB9L battery for the little Honda VFR - bought and paid for sat waiting at my local motor factors - the location? 3 miles from my work! Might as well be 300 bloody miles away for all the good it is to me there! I was hoping to burst it into life with a view to selling it once the lockdown measures start to ease. I’ve got the time to crack on now but the one thing I need to burst it into life is tantalisingly out of reach! What was it mouse says? Electric legs are for women and vicars 🙈🤪🤦🏼♂️ Be very careful, with my new slimmed down shape I could be very tempted to buy it from you! BTW I am now of the age to need an electric foot. I doubt I would be able to kick that SP 370 of mine into life.

Fingers crossed Gazza that nothing more comes of it other than the loss of smell Thanks Peter - I’m feeling sharper today, temp back down to 36.8 in one ear 37.2 in the other. Gave the windowsills another coat - still can’t smell the paint but I am getting earache from the girls to make up for it!

When I get around to it they all need proper scrubbing but as they aren't really being opened at the moment it can wait. No one else has piped up! Good day on the home schooling front today, she had her sensible head on so it was pretty swift and slick to get through it all. on the windows front we are the only ones to have lived here so they haven’t been abused, I’ve sloshed some emulsion around three times in ten years, every time I masked up as you can see in this picture. This stuff is superb. www.toolstation.com/blue-window-protection/p20527Mask around the frame then apply this, it is a bit of a bugger to work with as it clings to itself but once you get the hang of it is well worth using. Sticks to composite steel doors and tiled floor’s as well. Saves loads of time cleaning the inevitable overpaint splashes. For cleaning go for this www.cifclean.co.uk/products/catalog/cif-cream-outdoor-multi-purpose-cleaner-450-ml.htmlWhen they laid the tarmac top dressing on our footpaths the contractors managed to blow droplets of tar over an 8’ wall onto our patio doors, this stuff shifted it without scratching the upvc frames. It’s awesome stuff for cleaning upvc. For getting the paint off a meths soaked rag will likely as not shift it without harming the upvc.

I’m ok - Dr Google reveals a few weeks to possibly several months to regain the sense of smell. We shall see!

Please keep us updated Gazza as I , for one am fascinated by the symptoms people get Will do Patty - Mrs G went for another test at work this morning - slight cough developed last night, the hospital are very quick at getting results; she came back negative - again! I think that’s her fourth test on site not including home tests to come back negative. sge has had the first part of her vaccine jab whether that has any significance I don’t know.
