Chris got a text from our Doctor's late afternoon, it had a link to make an appointment for her C19 jab.... YAY!! But there was no mention of me. We have always had our flu jabs together, likewise we had our pneumonia jabs together. The point is the surgery is 5 or 6 miles so if they insist of doing each person seperately rather than couples the whole thing becomes a chore. Chris is vunerable where as I'm 8 years older at 75 and from what we have gleaned we are both up for the jab at the same time. Phil

Inconvenient and an annoyance but at least Chris is jabbed ... and yours shouldn't be too far away.

The vaccinations are going well. I know more people that have been jabbed than people that have had covid. Thatβs gotta be a good thing. 3 of our sons friends have had it, all in their late 20s. I reckon towards the end of February things will be a lot better. Hope so anyway, had a few frames of snooker today, I need some practice, desperately π.

I'm sure the 'jabs'(note the lack of the use of word 'vaccine') will be be very succesfull seeing as some media outlets suggested we had 'herd immunuty' in the middle of last year...

I think the pecking order is care home residents, 80+, then the clinically at serious risk. Next down the line is 70+ so yours should be soon

Like phil70 I'm also of that age and not yet got an appointment. but like him I am also probably counted as fit for my age. (haven't seen my doctor for 3? 4? years ... time flies when you're having fun)
I'll get mine when I get mine

It must be constantly unsettling for you to challenge everything and accept nothing ? I'm sure contentment , inner peace , or happiness (whatever your descriptive preference) relies on a calmness and acceptance of what can't be changed. Remember 'media' has to create controversy to survive Rog

If we had reached herd immunity, why are over a thousand people dying every day?? Or are all the deaths fiction??

On average around 1600 die every day under 'normal' circumstances, obviously more during the winter months when hospitals normally reach about 90% capacity. I have no idea whether we have reached 'herd immunity' or not because I don't take much of the media seriously, but some do!

Noreen got the call last night, Sunday 3.20pm down at the local sports centre. And I get it too!!! Can't tell you what a pleasure it was to be offered the jab. Now to get her in and sorted without her getting the cataplectic paralysis- which is likely at the moment. On one of our recent walks it stuck half way across a road, right in the middle. A quiet road thankfully, we were at least 5 mins, cars able to get by. Some stopped to offer help, others drive blankly by. Nothing's to be done, can't move till she recovers.

Got an email from dad yesterday saying he had got a text, in the Philippines! for his jab. Of course he won't be going 7600 miles for it so I phoned this morning for him to cancel it. They were very pleased to hear that he was OK as far as I know and wanted to book another appointment for him.
When I explained that there was no date that he could possibly keep at this stage they were concerned that technically he is no longer on the doctors list or entitled to NHS treatment now.
That is going to be fun when ( if? ) he ever makes it back. Seems he is a non person now.

If / when he returns to live permanently in the UK, he will be entitled to NHS services, pension, and things like WFA and a bus pass.

His bus pass ain't much use in Manila!
