Barry Hawkins yard half way up the Atherstone flight, less than £200, nothing much in terms of facilities but they do sell gas and coal, pump out is a bit hit and miss, good thing is it’s nice and close to Atherstone town that has plenty of pubs, shops and two supermarkets only a ten minute walk. Spring wood haven is nice but no live aboard a and in the middle of knowhere Alvercote is a bit crap and middle of knowhere New one just about to open between Atherstone and Nuneaton, in the middle of know where Couple down towards rugby on the north Oxford that I know nothing about. Not sure Birmingham has to offer in terms of marinas. Where’s the new marina Dave?

From Hartshill yard heading to Atherstone ... about a mile along there's a sharp right hand bend with a bridge just after. On the left on the apex of the bend was a lake, like an old quarry ... some years a go a narrow boat appeared on it, and there was talk of a marina but nothing happened. It's converted and open now ... hope that helps Rog

Reference ianali 's comment re Dunchurch Pools ... pleasant staff and a nice marina but essential to have transport for shops etc. Coal and diesel prices were very good too. Rog We went & had a look when there was an open day.Nice marina with good faclities, but decided that it was too far from shops/pubs(remember them ?).

I know where it is, but I just can’t picture it. Guess my age is creeping up on me.

If he wasn't ginger, I'd try to get him a mooring on the farm.
