Yes, it appears that we no longer have a moderator? if you are a moderator on a proboards forum you can book in as a normal humen bean as well as a moderator (or even a visitor) You can, I think you have to if you are the head honcho, but you can also just have one log in like I do and tick a box. I can still moderate moderately as ever i.e. read all your private messages etc.

I see the blue stars have gone. Which is nice. Yes, it appears that we no longer have a moderator? I'm a secret moderator now.

It's just that I noticed the spammer is still shown as the latest new member ... I would have thought the account should be deleted to prevent further 'attacks' ... but I'm not particularly well versed in forum admin procedures.

If it was me I'd have banned 'em and their IP address but it's a bit pointless as they change it every time anyway.

Most people’s IP addresses are dynamic, especially if a mobile device is being used. Banning a specific but dynamically assigned IP address just means that in future some innocent party who has had that IP address assigned, finds they are blocked. For a while I had big problems sending BT email from my iPhone over Three, because apparently BT had decided that most Three IP addresses had at some point been used to send Spam, this despite logging in with SSL and password authentication.

Er ... I'm only banning it on this pissy little forum, not the whole internet! Yes I know. But my point is that banning an IP address doesn’t achieve anything and means that someone else who gets assigned that IP address won’t be able to post on this pissy little forum. The chances of that happening are of course minuscule, but the principle remains.
