I too believe that there is an agenda at play here above and beyond dealing with a virus which has claimed the lives of around 1 in 800 of the population, the vast majority of whom were in their 80s. Certainly as far as I'm aware there has never been a previous occasion when perfectly healthy people were required to quarantine. There is largely a slavish, sheep-like deference to The Powers That Be which has caused many folk to lose all sense of proportion. Far, far more lives will be lost in the long-term due to lockdown than will be saved by it. Genuine question Vince, what number would you deem unacceptable 10 in 800, 100 in 800?

It's not possible to say without stating the demographic of the people who are doing the dying. I'd say the average eighty-something year old has at least a 10% chance of dying in any given year so considerably in excess of that would be a reasonable starting point. We seem to have somehow arrived at a state where any death of anyone at any age is something to be prevented at any cost, and this to me is logical fallacy.

Answer me this you bushy tailed idiot, do you honestly believe the govt want us to remain in lockdown, meaning massive losses on taxes and vat, if so what is the reason they wish to keep us locked up?
And answer the last part yourself, rather google for an opinion!

Answer me this you bushy tailed idiot, do you honestly believe the govt want us to remain in lockdown, meaning massive losses on taxes and vat, if so what is the reason they wish to keep us locked up? And answer the last part yourself, rather google for an opinion! Yes, I do think 'the government' want you locked up for ever, to stew and quietly go mad in your own houses. Who can say why... perhaps Boris and pals have sold the UK every last bit to the Chinese, on condition they will live a 'normal life' in their manor houses and desirable residences with plenty of money until they snuff it, and then the Chinese can move in. 300,000 Hong Kongers already on their way! China has already invaded Tibet, and Mongolia - a foothold in the West could be a lark. It will relieve China of a bit of their population. The UK still has minerals and some oil worth plundering. HSBC is already everywhere, and just get some triads doing a bit of money laundering in London, which already has a reputation for 'dirty money' passing through its blood-stained fingers. The UK is at a bit of a loss, and helpless to resist. Boris and pals couldn't give a fig about "losses on tax and vat" - why worry when China is running the show? A lot of people say how well-made Chinese products are, and laugh about "going for a Chinese". Well, you may as well embrace their culture even more, and start learning Mandarin... although, I don't see how that will help when they'll just want you as slaves. The above is just an idea as to what's going on behind the scenes - I'm surely wrong and should acknowledge Boris and Hancock as Great Statesmen they really are, and that this really is about a dreadful virus that has just, for no reason at all, suddenly 'jumped' from bats to humans, and that Pfizer and all the other vaccine sellers are knights in shining armour, and everything will be alright when we get to vaccinating all over-85-year-olds by Easter. Now, tell me, Dave, do you really think this is about 'a virus'? Did you study Biology and Chemistry at school? Do you even know what viruses, DNA, RNA and genes are? Do you know how many chromosomes humans have? Do you really think members of the Conservative Party and the wealthy people who donate to that party really give two hoots about you? So no real answer then, thought so.

.............. and your contribution is Making people aware that there is something sinister behind all this 'Covid' malarkey. Although, I may as well face it, it's a waste of time on a boating forum full of old fogies who just like to shout me down. You consign yourself to the fate that awaits you by doing nothing and believing everything the BBC churns out. Why were people not wearing masks 5 years ago when 'flu and the 'usual winter cold' ravaged the country? More people died from that than this 'Covid'. You are being conned, but are too frightened to admit it. Ask where the money is going and you are met with "business confidentiality" or some bullshit to deflect your enquiries. You will be promised this and that... but it will never come... the blame will always be laid at the 'covidiots', who are deliberately allowed to mingle here and there, so that the government has a scapegoat and the hoards of ill-educated morons have someone to point their fingers at. Time will tell... but I'm betting there'll be no holiday boating on the inland waterways this year. 16000 is more than 106,000???

Well definitely not for those trying to travel in from the moribund EU still waiting for the odd dose of vaccine to come trickling through that web of Brussels incompetence, deceit and bureaucracy.

Here's a question naughtyfox. How much daylight do you get in Finland at the moment. One of my daughters told me when I collected them from school yesterday that there was no light in Finland. One of her teachers said so. I think that's nonsense.

Finland used to top the suicide league tables and the perpetual dark was apparently a strong factor.

One of her teachers said so. I think that's nonsense. There's very little daylight in Finland in mid-Winter, conversely in mid-Summer there is near permanent daylight. I've been in St Petersburg, which is on the same latitude as Helsinki more-or-less in mid-Summer and they have a festival called "White Nights" to mark the Summer Solstice. At most there is an hour or so of twilight then daylight returns again. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Nights_FestivalOf course, Helsinki is just about the southernmost city in Finland. As you go further north the effect becomes even more pronounced.
