This should be easy, but searching for images hasn't yielded anything so far.
Some time back I saw a narrowboat featured in a video/vlog/news item (memory failing, you are correct) which had a lifelike mural painted on its sides. The mural depicted a natural scene along canals - kingfishers, herons, hedgerows, trees, butterflies.
Can someone point me to where I can find more about this and find out who paints such wonderful artwork?

I have seen the boat to which you refer on the Peak Forest canal in the last couple of years, but at present can't help. Nevertheless, welcome to the premier forum for all things boat ... mere chit chat ... or tips from our fashion editor Mr Stabby . I'll have a trawl about too, and see if I can find anything. Rog

dogless, thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to more of your 'blatantly pointless content'
It's maddening when you see something and tell yourself you'll have a longer look at it one day, then it's elusive to searches.

Hi.
I've seen about half a dozen full mural painted boats over the years.
Some better than others.
It's a nice idea. I also think another really cool thing to do would be to do the inside as well. If it was lined with flat plywood panelling you could paint a jungle scene, monkeys with pineapples, a little creek with a dinghy on it etc etc.
Done right by a good artist with the right perspective it would make the boat feel much larger inside.

That's an attractive idea as well. Fall asleep while looking at rainforest scenes, floating down the Amazon. Maybe with a suitable soundtrack playing (frogs, cicadas) in the background? I won't be moving onto my boat until the autumn, but one little touch I think will look good on the fitout - and cheaper than an artistic mural on the outside - is pinprick-size (1mm) white LEDs in the ceiling. When I flew Emirates I admired how their 'nightlights' in the cabin roof mimicked stars in the sky and I've wanted to try it ever since.

The one from the Peak (that I spotted on the Mac year before last) came down the Rochdale 9 on Monday of this week when I was out walking... 2 old geezers on it but can't recall seeing it's name - I was too busy thinking it was gonna get stuck if they didn't spot the water in the pound below was non-existent. I haven't spotted if go past here yet so it might be in Castlefield still (or gone wigan way)... I'll keep an eye out when I'm walking that way tomorrow.
