Thought of the Day.
Why do the voices certain people hear in their heads – particularly the voices heard by religious nutters – always tell them to kill other people? Why can’t the voices tell tell them to pick up litter or help old folks with the shopping?

Thought of the Day. Why do the voices certain people hear in their heads – particularly the voices heard by religious nutters – always tell them to kill other people? Why can’t the voices tell tell them to pick up litter or help old folks with the shopping? I don't think many people 'hear' voices in their heads, why, do you? You might be surprised to know that some of us help old folks and pick up litter without 'voices in the head'. Some people do it out of love (which doesn't need any words).

Theres one ole chap who walks round the Castle grounds every day with a bucket and his litter picker...I quite often clear up dog poo on the paths as its not fair on the kids n elderly. I also clear fishing line that i see on the beach...Just part of day to day life for quite a few people.

spare a thought for the OP.
he is manically depressed and his glass is always half empty.
the cure is very hard for him to swallow, but basically it involves not reading the gutter and sensationalist press ................. ideally he should go cold turkey on this but that may be asking too much of him bearing in mind his obsessive character.

Reminds me of our time spent on the Broads where I regularly went out litter picking and fishing line collecting, many days I would collect hundreds of metres of line because boats full of holiday makers would troll from boats under power (against the law) the line would snag while the boat carried on oblivious to what was happening Some times I collected really nice rods and reels pulled of the boats unnoticed.
