Oh the irony. It couldn't be more lost if it were the Titanic.

I'll read that in a bit. If you didn't include San and Tray in the selection pool wouldn't that be an oligarchy?

your suggestion approaches the original concept of democracy in ancient Athens.
citizens (a relatively exclusive group) had a duty to serve if their peers elected them; they didn't need to be nominated or to volunteer.
a similar procedure exists in some modern democracies, where people who are experts in their own field are more or less obliged to serve if selected to do so.
this concept matches Chaucer's outlook.

"It reminds me of when you go to vote at a local or general election. You take your polling card (not mandatory), and you go to the desk for your voting slip. They ask you your name, and they check the register, and a unique code number, which is assigned to your voting slip. So they know straight away who you voted for! really?
usual crap I'm afraid ....... and yet again no attribution given by you so we can only conclude that Fox is again the creator and distributor of FAKE NEWS! (i.e. Lying)
more than 30,000 posts, most of which are utter crap.
Wiki:
Having verified and marked off the voter's name and address on the list of electors, the presiding officer or poll clerk issues the ballot paper, calling out the voter's name, elector number and polling district reference, unless the voter is an anonymous elector, in which case only his/her elector number is called out. Ballot papers cannot be issued before 7am and can only be issued after 10pm to a voter who was present in the queue at/outside the polling station at 10pm. All ballot papers contain both an official mark (e.g. a watermark or perforation) and a unique identifying number; any papers issued without both these features (even if it is the presiding officer/poll clerk's mistake) will be invalid and rejected at the count. On a separate list (called the corresponding number list) the presiding officer or poll clerk writes the voter's elector number next to the unique identifying number of the ballot paper issued. However, the secrecy of the vote is usually maintained,[citation needed] as at the close of the poll this list linking voters to their ballot paper numbers is sealed inside a packet which may only be opened by the order of a court in the event that the election result is challenged. The ballot paper is folded and then handed to the voter.

That's what they want you to think.
What you are blatantly unaware of is the fact that the human-like units giving out the ballot papers are in fact highly advanced data analysing robots and all of the information right down to the exact tone of your skin colour, any slight defects, speech impediments, hair problems, teeth issues and even bad breath is logged and transferred wirelessly to the Main Hub where it is then used up by data consuming robots with alco-rythms. They are taught to drink beer like normal humans in order to not stand out and seem odd.
They know who you are and everything about you except for the condition of your toenails.
The best thing about it is You don't even know who They are.
It's clever shit.

It was a brave attempt at raising the standard of this thread. But its just too damn late, sweetheart. BTW what Chaucer was saying was a bit more 'Leave it to the King and his mates. Don't worry your sweet peasant head about it.' However the Greek model does contrast well.

So... yes, it can be shown which way you voted. Next you'll be telling us Vladimir Putin won the elections fairly - I mean, they had honest voting there, right? "United Russia, backed by President Vladimir Putin, is well ahead in the nation's parliamentary election, taking at least 45%, exit polls suggest. Yet throughout the day there have been reports of voting fraud - and video to back them up. In some cases, webcams installed at polling stations recorded what appeared to be election officials stuffing ballot boxes." www.bbc.com/news/av/world-europe-37403673 - ooh, look, it's the BBC, so must be true!!
now you purport to be another Trump - not believing in the integrity of the polling station staff.
ONE: utter crapola
TWO: don't ever vote in UK elections (even if by some miracle you manage to get on the register)
THREE: incite an insurrection on the House of Commons
