She should also be awarded compensation for the wasted years of her life, including mental suffering that is hard to quantify but surely worth several hundreds of thousands, and given a student grant for 3 years at a good university including boarding and living costs, so she can obtain the education that she missed through being exiled as a result of neo-captivity imposed outside her control. Indeed. Any guilty rests squarely on the shoulders of us, society, for creating an environment where a poor girl could be manipulated in such a way. Let's hope that there's an avenue for appeal for her and that when justice is finally done that she can find it within herself to forgive us for the terrible trauma we've caused to her.

The chap who wrote that is a very dodgy character ..... very .......... he makes the most right wing on here look like sandal wearing tree huggers Do you mean Robert Heinlein? The film was hung on the satire hook, I haven't read the novel. Heinlein never much appealed to me, although 'Stranger in a Strange Land' is worth the read, as is 'Time Enough For Love'. Also, 'Friday' is a first by virtue of its depiction of a sci-fi heroine not stuck in gender stereotype land. It is said to have inspired Alan Moore to write 'The Ballad of Halo Jones'.

I imagine it would have been a tad tricky to leave when reality dawned. The two friends who went with her realised what was what PDQ and bailed ....... She didn't Are you sure? One is presumed to have died in an air raid while the fate of the other is generally described as unknown.

What I want to know, is what they did with all the severed heads in the baskets? Serve them up fried, like 'chicken in a basket'? I recall one ex-jihadi (possibly Begum, not sure) relating how she(?) came across several heads in a bin.

One other thing: this is possibly not the end of the story. Begum is in fact free to appeal the decision (again) but cannot return to the UK to do so. Thus, since she has to be part of the proceedings in court, it would have to be done via video link. This could be somewhat problematic given her current location. Any minute now I expect a team from a charity will set out with a satellite phone and a bag of computers.

Is nobody going to stick their head above the parapet and say that Ms. Begum is a victim, she should be treated as such, be flown 'home' at the expense of the tax payer, be given a new identity for her own safety, a fresh start as an innocent British woman? Nobody? I did originally but doesn't mean I don't agree with this decision.

I doubt she would survive the wait for the verdict if she unequivocally slated the ideals of ISIS whilst still living in the camp.

@gazza I quite enjoyed these two films. This is a hoot. Always good to see a British film. Makes a refreshing change from all the American bollocks.

The TV News showed her dressed in western style with no head covering, looking much like any young western woman, so she has apparently already rejected their way of life.
