I think the re-implementation of the mooring rules (on 12th I think?) will not be universally welcomed.
I'm not far from Whitchurch on some 48hr moorings, and a few of the boats have clearly been here for some time. There is a variety of paraphernalia on the towpath- chairs, gas bottles, the odd genny.
I can see why they like it here- its a nice town, and a very attractive and civilised mooring spot. But if the Llangollen goes mental on or after Tuesday (with the reduced level of lockdown), and the normal rules are back in force, all these folks are presumably going to have to move on- and I'm not sure they all want to.
My own plan is to move south a couple of miles tomorrow, and find a nice spot that's not too busy to moor for a week or so. I've got to spend a few days working, and then maybe visit the town a bit, and move on towards Ellesmere next weekend.
I've gotten rather used to only having about three boats go past all day. Although it will be nice to have a few more people around, part of me will miss the peace and quiet.

The beast awakes from its slumber!
Domestic Water system filled and reinstated from winter anti freezing setup.
Webasto burst into life no problems so we have hot water, heat and a toasty engine at a touch of a button - last time it was fired up was bloody November!
Engine chimed into life at the slightest touch if the ignition key, not run since the beginning of December when I pumped some anti freeze around the engine cooling system ready for a harsh lockdown winter.
7 days time and we will get our first night away from home - even if we have only been in this one for three weeks by then!
Bring it on! ππ»π€ͺ

If everybody who has been stationery for lockdown, move all at once on mon, itβs going to be chaos.

If the weather is sharp the dinghy will get dragged out and punt the kids up and down the river with that. Will probably have a day trip up to Alwalton but that will be about it, May Day bank holiday May see the first proper trip out with any luck π

It will be strange for people whose main aim is to avoid moving the boat to have to start moving again.
Enforcement here we come ?

Well - to EVERYONE who's been chomping at the bit to get moving/spend time on their boats after the stupidity of not being ALLOWED to - ENJOY!!!

If everybody who has been stationery for lockdown, move all at once on mon, itβs going to be chaos. I except all the leisure boaters will go out especially with it being school holidays. But I except many will then have their 14 days where they are before hoping down the canal.

But I except many will then have their 14 days where they are before hoping down the canal. I've been moored on 48 hour moorings north of Whitchurch, and I've been expecting carnage tomorrow as all the ABC hire boats go out at once and scatter to the four winds, causing chaos all over the canal. So today I moved south about a mile or so, past the ABC hire boats place and on a bit, and I've found a nice quiet spot where the canal is wide enough for two boats to speed past without hitting me, and where I can do a couple of days work and sit out the coming storm. I'm thinking maybe I can start moving again when all the crazy hire boaters have crashed into each other and/or sunk. Except I'm no longer sure there's going to be a big rush. Not a single boat has moved past me in either direction all day long. Not one. I've heard of the calm before the storm, but this is ridiculous.

Will be interesting to see how much moving traffic there is. I'm doing my last week at work this week, the week that pays for the solar installation, so hopefully the mad rush (if there is one) will abate a bit although it doesn't really matter too much as I'm only going as far as Charity Dock in the first week and there's only the Hawkesbury stop lock in between me and it. Hoping Pete Gilbert doesn't find too much wrong with the boat when it's in dry dock.
