Happy as Larry then. I want to know how happy Larry actually is. It would be useful to have this kind of information readily available. Do we know who Larry was? and Why he was happy?...maybe I'll see if Google knows cos not got an Alexa to ask Got it... He was Larry Foley and a boxer who in 1890 won 150,000 dollars ..Metro news led with 'Happy as Larry' and it stuck... source Google ....

There seems to be some chatter about this eventually being introduced once electric cars start to take over. I donβt see an issue with this.

Pay per mile for me, on all vehicles. I've paid a year's road tax and only done a couple of hundred miles. I'll have done more on the ebike by April. (before Mr smarty pants comes along and says I should pay per mile on that too - most of those are off road, tracks and cycle paths, so that's ok. ) Perhaps the gross vehicle weight should be brought into the equation too. That would mean everyone in a vehicle contributes. We could call it Pay Per Pie. Invest in helium suits now!
Anyway, back on topic

I've only done about 200 since last July and the brakes are sticky, the battery keeps telling me its low... For someone whose norm is over 1000 miles a month this has been tough Dunno if my insurance company will refund ..I'm with SAGA this time

Its an easy one black box same as insurance companies use, band the cars on pollution caused for the pay per mile, remove road tax and road fuel duty problem sorted! If you run on anything you pay for the pollution and wear and tear on the road. people that used to run on red still pay, might even stop Gypos stealing the stuff

I had to stick my car battery on charge last week, I was getting a low battery light and a bit of a struggle for the starter motor. There always seems to be something draining the batts with modern cars. Not like the olden days, off was off!

I've managed 1000 miles since the Yeti MOT in October π that was two trips to the boat. As the Yeti is connected to a float charger when it's not in use I suspect my electric use will be up there alongside my diesel use π±
