As a very new potential boater, I am seeking as much information as I can on all aspects of boats and canals. I tend to learn by a blend of osmosis and immersion. Can anyone recommend any vlogs, blogs books or video that have helped them or they feel may help us newbie boaters get a feel for it all. I have read and loved Marie Browne's" Narrow" series. Working my way through"sort of interesting" with Dan and Narrowboat Tilly , have Flowd with Mylo and enjoyed Robbie Cumming too, what else is there to entertain and enlighten
I have not yet read a canal based book that ever truly captured my imagination. I've read Narrow Dog series, Watersteps round Europe, Journey Without End, I quite enjoyed reading Lock Keepers Daughter but oddly the books I preferred about the Inland waters were Fred Doeflinger's Slow Boat series, outdated and quaint but I enjoyed them.
The boating books that captured my imagination were things like Tim Severin's Brendan Voyage, Thor Heyerdhal's Kon Tiki, even more extraordinary "The Epic Voyage of The Seven Little Sisters" by that now almost forgotten adventurer William Willis. He is someone that should be remembered for a life that was, to our modern eyes more extraordinary than most products of Hollywood. In the 1930's he broke a prisoner out of Devils Island, the French Penal Colony, he sailed a raft (The Seven Little Sisters) 6,700 miles solo across the Pacific when he was in his sixties. In his 70's he sailed another raft 11,000 miles from South America to Australia. A truly remarkable man
I wrote a blog on my boat build( google a narrow path, my journey continues) but no good to you if u are going for 2nd hand and rip out..I decided following viewing loads boats couldn't face dealing with (sorry everyone) smell of the pump outs/old cassettes....it was a smell that took me right back to the days of when I was a urology nurse. My job was dealing with (again so sorry) piss n shit(did I really write that?) and I wanted fresh start, nice new clean boat.I am at present editing it all with view to having a go at self publishing..however have lots of other stuff keeping me busy so it'll be years away. I do enjoy a project or 2.

If u ignore important stuff...it'll come back and bite u on the bum....

JohnV: There are other drugs but I haven't found the side effects with Ramipril to be bad, it seems to just make my throat a bit more sensitive so things that might have just tickled my throat and make me want to clear it now make me cough.
