Marcus my old GSD weighed 65 kilos needed a crane to get him out! He regularly used to go swimming when it was hot, luckily he would just swim down to the slipway to get himself out, dogs are great things dont know how I would cope without one in my life Never been interested in dogs. I think our lifestyle wouldnβt allow. Daughter though loves visiting the boat so I know the dog will be coming π. I went 3 years without one post Molly RIP, I didn't think I would get another with walking daughters and the travel but come Covid..no travel and daughter furloughed so no access to dog walking daily. Got to feel summit missing, still went for walks but days seemed hollow. She's filled a gap and I suspect I won't be going abroad for quite a while and actually look forward to trips round the UK...only slight hiccough could be the Mini which I don't think is right. No rush...gonna wait n see

Living alone must present a dilemma if you want to go shopping. Leave the dog at home or risk a dognapping (in these mad days).

Well she will never be tied up outside a shop..reckon she would make a terrible fuss. She does suffer separation anxiety if I leave her with son. However she's ok if I leave her home alone...son gets round it by letting her wait by the front door for me to come home. Wouldn't leave her in a car as I never have,, in fact she has not really travelled much at all. I do intend getting out more in the car before we tackle a long trip. Covid restrictions have made it a bit difficult but have managed to socialise her and she's ok with dogs we meet

I have to admit to preferring dogs that are easier to train. I read about a collie that had learnt to identify more than a thousand individual items by name and would produce then on request. Apparently it even understood categories.

Thats all we hear about on local Facebook groups except there has been no recorded incidents. The police have even said this themselves. But still see multiple posts daily. The RSPCA even now have to come out and repeatedly say that that van is ours on multiple claimed fake rspca van posts. I'll agree other areas may not be so lucky. There was one case the other day and boy Facebook exploded. Until the police confirmed it was a disputed ownership thing and no other dogs are at risk. Didn't shut them up though.

There have been two raids on traveller sites which were highly publicised in the local news hereabouts. Both raids discovered many dogs in cages - at least 80 at one notorious site (the same one that was home to Henry Vincent) and a similar number at the second. Also several stories in the same rag featuring distraught owners and reports of muggings etc. One guy fought off the would-be thief. Apparently he was an ex-boxer.

Dogs have gone from round here and the police admitted its an issue... There are also some that have been genuinely lost or done a runner from their owners..fortunately most of these retrieved. They found a load of stolen dogs at a travellers site Its also very bad round my sisters area and friends of hers had their spaniel stolen

We had jackets for our two Miniature Schnauzers because they usually run along the top of the boat when we are cruising. Fortunately they have never fallen in but the handle was great for lifting them on and off the roof. Unfortunately the jackets were stolen when we were broken into by thieving pikey b******s and, as we have hardly been out since, we haven't replaced them yet.
