Electric kick-type scooters are getting too popular in London now. They are everywhere. Coppers seem to be getting onto it which is good. I've seen a couple of them being done at the roadside. Normal Xiaomi scoots not big ones. It's too dangerous without insurance and some sort of enforcement. I saw a dickhead racing along a pavement at about 20mph dodging around pedestrians. It's quite risky because if you do get caught it can put your driving license, if you have one, at risk. And no, ignorance of law is not a defence as the lads who were pissed on electric scooters found when they were banned from driving.. Dozens are being dumped all over the place in Milton Keynes. They’re bloody everywhere. People come along the towpath at night, pick them up and return to base I think. I’ve had several near misses with them on the cycle routes. On top of that, they have these gps 8 wheel bloody robots buzzing about delivering a carrier bags worth of shopping for a quid. Wont be long before we have fuck off drones filling the sky’s.

I've not seen any hire escooters in my recent driving around London. Lots of Xiaomi and other generic types occasional really fast ones but I don't think the hire ones have been authorised yet.
I remember them in Paris before the law about not riding on pavements was introduced and it was havoc. You could barely walk on the pavements for dumped scooters.
The advantage with the hire ones is that in theory the user is traceable. Of course there will be ways around the motor locking system so yes a lot will be stolen and dumped.
Not sure how many the operator can afford to lose but I think it's rather more than one might imagine.

I went on my back deck yesterday to enjoy the sunshine and there where two drones buzzing about just above the boats. Bloody annoying I thought there are laws about flying these things near to people?

I had similar ideas, it’s not just like they flew over and went they where overhead for a long while. So buzzing around in one location.
