3 odd miles down the road. Downsizing from a decent sized modern 4 bed detached into a late 60βs 3 bed semi - mainly for the benefit of the dwarf due to the schooling postcode lottery.
A few days short of 16 weeks from offer on our house and our onward purchase to completion - been hectic and at times somewhat stressful.
Busy old do from Thursday afternoon to Friday afternoon getting fully packed and moved.
Weekend spent unpacking and cleaning (previous owners no doubt thought they left it immaculate but we obviously have different ideas on the meaning of that word!) along with meeting the neighbours - The dwarf had a head start; 6 of her schoolmates live in the street!
itβs just short of 11 years since we last moved, all being well 11-14 years at this one to see her through education and hopefully one more before getting fitted for a wooden overcoat!

Rog Yup, first casualty is my cordless drill - had to borrow one from work to secure the garage up and over door from inside - putting a pair of bolts in the runners prevents any unwanted access, good solid upvc side door allows me to get in. my drill could be anywhere - work, mother in laws or buried in the garage!

We should be ok on this one - our nearest bit of undeveloped land is bordered by a cemetery and has no road access nor any hope of gaining any!

Well done. Nightmare ain't it. The house is largely up together - cleaning left more than a bit to be desired, this eveningβs job was fit a new seat to the throne! Itβs bizarre, they have spent good money on a nice kitchen and bathroom then not looked after it as well as they could have. Clinnell wipes are the answer though, not cheap at Β£6 a pack, bulk buy on Amazon should see us through though. Our buyers had no such issues -we would have been mortified if they found so much as a speck of dust on completion! we had a bit of hassle with selling ours and our buyer selling his, section 106 planning obligations along with adoption of roads etc led to some delays, coupled with his dreadful solicitor meant a few headaches and delays. We got there in the end though!

A few hidden delights showed themselves at dusk. A well matured tree line is home to birds roosting for the evening, their bedtime call is mesmerising! We are also on the flight path of a colony of bats, a creature that has always fascinated me. Not forgetting the daylight strafing by the Red Kites. Thankfully we are far enough away from woodland so no longer have to listen to the barking of the bloody muntjac deer we had at the old place, that noise goes right through you!

When we moved,I cleaned/scrubbed the house from top to bottom-it was never quite that sparkly clean during the time we lived there(even when we had a cleaner)π.Daft stuff like using cotton buds to clean little nooks & crannies & making sure there wasn't one piece of fluff left under any of the radiators. The new owners told our old neighbour that they couldn't believe how clean we'd left the placeπΌπΌ.The house we moved into was what I'd call surface clean...π€¨

@gazza we had bat boxes at our last flat and we could sit out at dusk and watch them fly around. Amazing things. We have plenty of birds and have already put up a feeding station and bird bath.
We might try a bat box they must be in the woods which we can see.

Chris and I had 5 addresses before moving onto the water and each one was left immaculate my CBA condition was put aside to make way for a cleaning frenzy, Like Trina said it was never that clean while we lived there. Phil
