Chris and I had 5 addresses before moving onto the water and each one was left immaculate my CBA condition was put aside to make way for a cleaning frenzy, Like Trina said it was never that clean while we lived there. Phil yep...agree i touched up every mark on the walls with paint, cleaned on top of every cupboard.. came here and cleaned on top of every cupboards....not done it since

Multiple quarters in the Army so they had to be left immaculate, you marched in and you marched out. When the cottage was sold we cleaned it just the same even though we were separated and getting divorced, plus I made sure all the fitments and everything that was sold with the house was there, otherwise the ex would have had them away!!!

When we lived in Lincolnshire there were specialist cleaning companies who would clean houses in preparation for "March outs" this included reinstalling the original cooker which had been mothballed and put in the garage. Very lucrative it was too Phil

Still on a cleaning mission.
A week in and I have done the following
Descuzz the oven along with replacing the laggy fan motor - laggy because it’s gummed up with greasy deposits; you don’t need to be a cardiologist to know the previous occupants are well down the road of heart disease!
Clean the kitchen top to bottom, fix the window locks and clean the windows and door upvc frames along with all the glass.
Deep clean of the bathroom and replace throne seat. I don’t know why but sitting on the bog on someone else used seat didn’t fit right!
Replace bedroom MR16 and MR 11 lamps with led units. Fit 3 off matching 5.5w led ses lanes to landing light. Replace extractor hood lamps with GU10 LED Lamps.
Spend a fortune on a Sebo vacuum for the deep pile carpets our elderly dyson can’t cope with along with buying a Shark cordless for the hard flooring
Spend a fortune on a new heat pump tumble dryer and slimline dishwasher - that said we made full use of the Blue /light Discount to get a tidy deal on some Hotpoint kit!.
Replace manky old over powered 500w halogen security light with a nice 20w led unit.
Fit 2 off smoke alarms and 1 off CO alarm, our sellers took the old ones with them 🤦🏼♂️🤬🧐
Put up the trampoline - this turned out to be the most high priority job as the dwarf can finally have her friends round to play in the garden!
Ive got plenty to do yet but that is a good start in getting things licked into shape!

One place we bought had a shagpile carpet or at least that's what we thought until we gave it a vac and discovered it was a plush pile that had never seen a hoover, gross, and the windows just wouldn't come clean until Chris used Cif and plenty of elbow grease. The toilet bowl had to be drained and treated to some harsh cleaning with a flat blade screw driver and a whole tube of Jenolite. Needless to say a new seat was fitted pronto. The tops of the kitchen units had a lovely cat fur coat inches thick, a new kitchen fitted in short order as was the external kitchen door which proved to be rotten thanks to a constant overflow from the bathroom. Urg it was a disgusting house, we found used underwear in the fitted bedroom along with a whip? and the garden shed was literally full of empty bottles, I needed a skip seriously to clear them. Thank God other moves went better Phil

Thank God other moves went better Phil Back in the 70's when I bought my first house we also found a shed full of beer bottles, however those were the days when you got money back on empties, it paid for a lot of beer until local publicans realised I hadn't bought the bottles from them and refused to give me a refund 😠

Today was way more productive - we got the steering gear sorted on mouse Vanguard down at Titchmarsh Mill - new cable to go in and we are edging closer to shoving her back in the water! on the home front I rebuilt our decrepit teak gardens furniture - I think it at May have one or two more seasons left before it’s firewood! Hasn’t done bad tbh, it was a wedding present 15 years ago and hadn’t exactly led a pampered life!

Hasn’t done bad tbh, it was a wedding present 15 years ago and hadn’t exactly led a pampered life! I brought my dad a bench..its really heavy for his 80th. When he died I reclaimed it and dragged it from England to Horror House where I had to refurb it before getting it here....I've just noticed it needs yet more repair as one of the arms rotted but until I find the right bit of wood lying around..thinking this time of using driftwood..I can't repair. I will keep replacing bits as n when needed until it just goes... When we brought it son and I carried it all the way down the field at some silly o'clock where son had mown a square of grass. We tied balloons . Our plan was that dad would do his daily walk(he'd told us he always walked down to the bottom of the field EVERY day)..see his bench and have a rest before walking back Well dad fibbed..he never walked that far so didn't see the festooned bench... WE went with him in the pm when the balloons had all blown away..he then got his fork lift truck and took the bench back up next to his bungalow. But I see this bench and it reminds me of that day and the fab man that was my dad.

I can see the usefulness of meths as a libation, but CIF is just a, no certainly not! Chris said, "tell mouse to trust me. CIF works just great!!" Phil as a libation ?
perhaps in the original meaning ...... but surely not in the modern humerous version of the meaning
