Cthris said, "tell mouse to trust me. CIF works just great!!" Phil as a libation ?
perhaps in the original meaning ...... but surely not in the modern humerous version of the meaning Not so much in the original meaning JohnV as @gazza is neither a god nor a dead relation! I was just trying to find a posh way of bigging up meths drinkers!

I was just trying to find a posh way of bigging up meths drinkers! I've always never had an issue with my looks with scruffy clothes and unshaven. When I was 18/19 I went on a scout camp, I had to stop at b&q for some meths for my trangia stove. Quite a big conversation as they refused to serve me it. After half an hour I went to the car and took my bag in and showed them the empty fuel sigg bottle and the trangia. They eventually relented.

I bought a terraced house in Wellingborough many years ago just down the road from a pub and a church. I sat in the car one Saturday evening from 10pm till 11.30 to hear what the noise levels were like at chucking out time before putting an offer in. No problems. The pub was a good one and the first one I bought a pint for @gazza in. He was 15 at the time, I ordered a pint for myself and a coke for the boy. Landlord looked at @gazza and said "You don't want a coke, you want a beer don't you. Buy him a pint Dad"!

Never owned a Vauxhall, something to be proud of I feel! don't agree. over the years I have owned 3 Astras and an Astra Van. All have been very good reliable vehicles, the Astra van remarkably so. I bought it with 70k on the clock and when many years later, it went to the great scrapyard in the sky, it had 297,000 on the clock.
over 220,000 miles without any work on the engine and gearbox, still on the same clutch and with no failures in any of the drive /steering/braking components. uncountable consumables, filters brakepads etc etc. The heater matrix died at 295,000 and was linked out but then in short order the starter began being a problem, the alternator became intermittent and for the first time it began to burn a little oil. Too many things at once so it had to go.
It was without question the most reliable and uncomplaining vehicle I have ever owned.

Fair play, but I cant ever think of a time I thought, nice car! I must admit I quite like the MK2 Astra GTE. And the nova had quite a big following until the saxo came along. But like you. Not a vauxhall fan although I did consider buying the astra van if I could find the right one.
