I just object to Amazon and their business model, ..... guess I'm just going to have to stop buying stuff on t'internet
(will only use paypal, if they don't use it, I won't buy from them)
I just use a credit card, it has built in insurance. don't have one. 40 odd years ago I was in financial problems and ended up with a debt on a credit card, fortunately not a big one but it still took me nearly 2 years to wipe it out. Once I did, I chopped the damn thing up and swore never, ever to have another one.

I've never had a credit card of any description but I think Visa debit cards, which my bank give me, do have a certain amount of buyer protection . Not sure it is as good as credit cards to be fair though.

I have to agree, its a rop iff now and all for sellers. i have bought some things over the years well 1000`s of things and some have been damaged, they will only refund me if i return the item at my own expense. which is bad enough but selling i stopped years ago due to the cost. i tried a few month ago and nothing sold and at it cost me £75 for three items.
Ebay is getting to big for its own boots now.

I just use a credit card, it has built in insurance. You can still use PayPal to buy things on ebay.

Not sure it is as good as credit cards to be fair though. I would never use a debit card for anything but getting cash from a post office, far to easy to be scammed even in cash machines. I keep a low limit credit card specifically for use on the interweb. Debit cards give less protection than a condom with a hole in it.

You can, but ebay are putting obvious obstacles in the way of paying by PayPal so it's now easier to pay by debit card. PayPal used to be owned by ebay until it was spun off a few years ago, there's probably some hate-filled internal company animosity shit going on here.

Was meant to quote JohnV who was under the impression he couldn't do it anymore. Which is wrong. For now it's still a method of payment. Sorry @bedruthan. I did wonder why you replied to me.😀

My first thoughts were that they wanted a slice of the pie. Their must be extra fees involved now. If not. I'll wager a quid there will be. But I'm happy to be wrong.

I rarely hire a car and the last time was 2 years ago in France. The credit card allows them to add unplanned extras to my bill - including French speeding fines that are as predictable as night follows day. Under the French system the owner of the car pays and he has to recover it from the driver.
