Fancy a trip to Market Harborough over the summer, can do it in a weekend and leave the boat there, come back week after, what's the basin like for leaving a boat, big enough, moorings, safe?
Cheers

Cheers I donโt think there are visitor moorings actually in the basin, itโs a hire base and services. Although perhaps they would let you moor there for a fee if it wasnโt there during handover day(s). The visitor moorings are towpath side just before the basin. Fairly quiet and as safe as any vaguely urban setting is Iโd have thought. Usually quite busy though, which is good for security but bad for getting a space.

Cheers Moorings are fine, there are paid moorings on the Left side as you enter. VM on the right before the basin. As for doing it in a weekend it depends where you are starting from ๐ฑ

Would be from Hawkesbury or maybe from a deserted mooring I might take up a mile north of Rose Narrowboats..
Not sure I can handle just sitting on the Ashby all summer, I need to stretch the legs a little or get board, made it just north of Yelverton a couple of years ago so fancy doing foxton and back, holidays at work restrict doing much further.

If I say that the last time I was there, was for the launch of a boat out of Springers yard, you will probably realise that any information I can supply may be a little out of date

Canal planner says 26 hours from there so more than a weekend unless you boat how I used to when I was younger๐ฑ

I will just mention that upstairs in the Waterside is a great place to have a fancy gin cocktail. If only it was open!

Not familiar with that brewery. Oh I see, you mean that in order to compensate for your deep-felt insecurity about your sexuality, you have to be seen to be doing the sorts of things that sweaty beardy butch blokes do? Yes, I get it! Some people might even be taken in by it

Having previously moored at Crick for years I know this stretch well. Good thing about it is that between Braunston to Foxton there are lots of relatively safe moorings, also with good pubs nearby. This gives you the choice of choosing various areas to leave your boat, no panic about reaching Market Harborough. I like this stretch very much. Better than the Ashby I think.
