Stoppages announced today;
Llangollen - suspect leak from broken culvert Middlewich branch - closed for 2 weeks to rehang a lock gate (from next Monday)
Figure of 3 locks - closed on opening day due to barrier caught in gate/broken paddle.
At least two of those stoppages should have been foreseen and dealt with before today's opening up for leisure boating surely.

Not taking the piss, but exceptionally incompetent. There’s no reason why they couldn’t have spent lockdown doing preventative maintenance on the system, but instead chose to furlough the staff and keep the money for the management slush fund.

That is taking the piss in my world. Our world is obviously very different to that of many, @armchair! Don't forget the six weeks of lock work starting today at the Braunston flight....though the notice does warn "you may experience delays of up to 15 minutes" .....!!!

Which lock on the Middlewich? (I'm assuming Stanthorne as ever but ...)

Thank you - never got that notice.
Pity those who've paid a couple of grand to do the Four Counties....

Stanthorne lock has been mentioned on a few FB sites-saying a 2 week closure from next Monday.

A lot of things get mentioned on FB - I should have been more careful with my opening post. Maybe correct maybe not.

I think they were taking the piss with the furlough scheme. They received the same funding yet got the government to pay their wages. The scheme should have been used for closed businesses that had no or massively reduced incomes. I suppose we can't blame crt for saving a few quid legally. What will they do with the savings? Will be interesting to see the accounts for this year. Seems they cut their wage bill by a big amount.
