As dogless rightly pointed out, there needs to be more interesting content that doesn’t involve mud flinging.
you Can make your own minds up if it’s interesting but I promise there is no mud flinging - if that’s what you get your rocks off on bugger off elsewhere!
Some may remember on our trip to Peterborough in November that poor old Northern Star stopped dead in her tracks, first suspicion was a failed head gasket leading to a hydraulic lock, closer inspection reveals nothing more sinister than a badly routed air intake, a heavily loaded boat and a ham fisted over enthusiastic ‘helper’ giving too many beans on a Turbocharged Elysian at just the wrong moment.......
The little Kubota is currently undergoing open heart surgery - by way of an apology for my crew mates ill judged overtake causing more than a bit of hassle I promised to look after the box and rattling drive plate.
Removal is a pain in the arse as the box is bolted through the bell housing, I’m halfway through altering it to allow the box to be removed with having to pull the damn thing mostly to bits!
while in there this is the state of the second hand drive plate 7 years after I last saw it.
Halfway Through the rivets and the last half will never last as long as the first half!
It mounts on an ally adapter plate that bolts to the flywheel
Insane price ranging from £150 out of stock to £189 at ASAP!
The alterations to allow the box to be removed without unbolting the bell housing means the box will be 6mm further back, this means the drive plate needs to be spaced out at least the same distance.
A simple spacer would have done the job but the cost for a crap spring plate was just too much to swallow.
I have used R and D Marine in Baldock previously and have been very impressed with their products and technical help; particularly over the phone, after a couple of calls and a bit of batting about different ideas we came up with a neat solution and ended up with this.
There are 4 sets of holes/recess on that plate - 3 of which have different PCDS, the end result is this.
Top marks to anyone who can figure out why there are two sets of 5 holes on a 142 PCD 😜
The plate will be 4mm further forward on the input shaft, there is plenty to play with, you aim for at least the same engagement as the diameter of the shaft, mouse original measurement put it exactly so engaged, this was fortunate as it has left me plenty to play with meaning the flywheel can be left as it is.
faffer - the lad to speak to is Alex, I’ll text you my details so you can tell him I recommend you if you end up using them, he did that bespoke plate trade price for me - £96 delivered, week turnaround from order, through manufacturing to delivery - a fair bit more tasty than the crap spring shite that isn’t worth £30 let alone £189!
