I'm not sure why you keep digging out food banks. You know that they are charities I assume? I like charities. I support some myself. I think society would be much poorer if all the great work charities do was absorbed by a bloated super state. Back to food banks: They enable people who have either mismanaged their finances or have been hit by an unexpected financial burden to eat, prevent them either starving to death or perhaps becoming criminals in order to avoid starvation. I think food banks are a good thing. I wonder what your solution is: double everyone's benefits? What happens then, if people continue to mismanage their finances, let them starve to death in order to prevent the evil of food banks? I'm not digging out (or at) foodbanks. You have missed the irony of the situation. I'm well aware it is small charities that create and run them, out of necessity. Who has made them necessary? Who was the voter thanking for their existence? Of late I've noticed that every time you're pulled up on something you say you distance yourself from it, suggesting you said it in humour/ irony. It could be that you're a laugh a minute bloke, that nobody should ever take anything you say seriously. All well and good. However, some of the stuff you post is quite nasty and quite clearly not said in humour. This apparent inconsistency makes it difficult for a reader, you'll understand.

Food banks & supplies from food banks... Before we moved from Bearwood,we had a family from Iraq move into the rental property next door.Mum said she'd worked in schools in Iraq & dad drove lorries.Dad worked long hours, they had 2 cars & apple Iphones. One day,I saw them arrive home with loads of bags from Asda.Walked up the road pm to get a local paper,as I got home-they had a food delivery from the local foodbank !Have to be honest,I said they'd been up to Asda & had loads of bags. Was told it didn't matter as they were entitled. That stinks to me,they obviously were playing the system orrrr the system was playing it for them. Are you saying that all beneficiaries are milking the system? Of course it is wrong that some do. I’m positive that many food bank users are legit but others play the system. My hairdresser gave her time one morning a week in the local food bank. Imagine her surprise when her hairdressing client who spent over £100 in her salon the day before came in to the food bank because she stated she didn’t have money to feed her kids.....

I suppose doing away with food banks, as Jim would support, would encourage the woman who had the £100 haircut to have a few less highlights, and buy some £2 fishfingers for her troop of kids instead. That probably isn't what Jim had in mind though. Rather, he would prefer the government to pay for the full set of highlights, along with the fishfingers.

Nearly correct, Labour voters want us to support the £100 hair cut and fish fingers.. Share the love and all that.

Are they sure they remember that correctly. Dident the Welsh cops beg the army to send troops, which they did. Churchill and the war minister then had a meeting and the troops were stopped at swindon. Or do they just want an excuse to hate the Torys en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonypandy_riotsOk they did eventually arrive, after the rioting and looting by the Welsh had started to die down. Why do the Welsh think its a bad thing? Their police couldn't cope and with reinforcements from London started to control it. No one died after they arrived and very few were injured. Ah I see. The army prevented them picketing and ended the strike. And they still have cob on about it. Blooming Welsh.

I've only been in North Wales for 6 months. Not long enough to get a proper grip on things but I get the impression that life is quite different in the south. Anyone got any useful stereotypes/ insults based on stereotypes north vs south, south vs north?
I find insults based on stereotypes amusing and interesting. Not to be taken too seriously of course but as there's rarely smoke without fire they can be useful in gaining some understanding of tendencies/ behavioural norms/ cultures of folk that life in different places.

It's the Welsh speaking part in mid-Wales (Rhyadar/ Tregaron/ Llandrindod Wells etc) where they are more inclined to have sex with sheep.

Hampshire Council have a mountain centre near Brecon, so we've had quite a few nights out there. Also used the hostel in the black mountains and have had some great nights on pub crawls in Abergavenny.
They must be far enough south that they still like us.

I like Hartlepool. It has one item of great interest (or should be) to all with an interest in the sea or boats. The HMS Trincomalee, the oldest floating warship in Europe. She's a Leda class frigate launched 1819 in India and of all the preservation ships I have ever visited she is the most evocative 7125c6939a8c75c466791d9044c340af by mudlarker, on Flickr

I have never visited Hartlepool..that does look a lovely ship
In my previous existence I did get to have a meal on HMS Victory ..part of the celebrations for Nelson's 100 year event. Bit cramped as there was a lot of us but a lovely evening...one of these events where you sit next to someone different each course as the blokes move. Not so bad for me at just over 5ft..I just found a small space and stayed put.
